2. Catalogue Home Page Helpful links Search box Advanced Search My Account: here you can see what you have on loan and on order, you can renew your loans, change your PIN and check any finance owing.

4. Searching the catalogue A search for “Charles Dickens” will find items about Charles Dickens as well as by him, but you can Refine Your Search.

5. Searching the catalogue On the left are ways to Refine Your Search . For instance, scroll down the page and click on “Charles Dickens” as Author.

6. Searching the catalogue Now you see only items by Charles Dickens... ... but you can continue to Refine Your Search...

7. Searching the catalogue For instance you can scroll down the page and select Audio as Format.

8. Searching the catalogue Now you see only items by Charles Dickens which are in Audio Format.

9. Searching the catalogue You can backtrack, eg. remove “Charles Dickens” as Author by clicking on the x...

10. Searching the catalogue ...and now you see items about Charles Dickens as well as by him, in Audio Format

11. Searching the catalogue You can display your search results in a different order, eg. by date or A-Z, etc.

13. See more details Click on a title or the “Check Availability” button to see more details...

14. See more details ... you can see which libraries stock the item... ...and you can click a link to see other items by this author, or other books on the same subject.

16. Reserving an item When you’ve run a search, click on a title or the “Check Availability” button. (NB. The “Save” buttons DO NOT reserve items. See slides 26-34.)

17. Reserving an item Click the “Reserve” button and you will be asked to log in with your card number and PIN.

18. Reserving an item Select your collection site from the drop-down list and then click “Reserve”.

19. Reserving an item There is usually a charge of 60p for reservations, payable when you collect the item, although some people are exempt. We will notify you by email, text, voicemail or post when your reservation is ready to collect.

21. Advanced search Advanced Search can be really useful for specific searches, such as DVD...

27. Creating a list You might want to create a list of titles to make a book list or bibliography. To select a title click Save to My Lists.

28. Creating a list Give your list a name and save it.

29. Creating a list Save as many titles as you wish to your list.

30. Creating a list You can make more lists in the same way, just give each one a different name.

31. Creating a list Now when you save a title you can choose which of your lists to add it to .

32. Creating a list You can see your lists by clicking “My Lists”... ...and you can export them in various formats.

34. Creating a list ...or if you want to keep your lists for future use, log in via “My Account”.

36. My account You can renew one of your loans or all of them at once.

37. My account You can view any finance on your account.

38. My account You can see what you have on order, and cancel a reservation if you no longer need it. When an item’s ready for you to pick up its status changes from “Placed” to “Ready to collect”.

40. My account You can change your PIN if you wish.
