Cameup with idea for “cleanrooms” used today Antiterrorism/Aviation security. The familiar walkthrough portals at many airport security checkpoints use Sandia-patented technology to screen airline passengers for explosives.Nuclear stockpile stewardship.Sandia plays a key role in efforts to extend the life of nuclear weapons currently in the nation’s stockpile, most of which were produced 30 to 40 years ago. Sandia is continually evaluating components, subsystems, and system performance to ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of the existing arsenal. created in 1945 as the ordnance design, testing, and assembly arm of Los Alamos. In 1948, Sandia Laboratory, a separate branch of Los Alamos. But the growth continued and the Atomic Energy Commission began to look for an industrial firm to manage the engineering facility. President Harry Truman asked AT&T to accept managerial responsibility of Sandia. Western Electric, AT&T's manufacturing arm, accepted the management role on a no-profit, no-fee basis. On November 1, 1949, Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Electric, began managing Sandia. Sandia was made a national laboratory in 1979. In 1993, Martin Marietta took over Sandia's management contract and two years later merged with Lockheed to become Lockheed Martin.

Clear up confusion about what BIM is“Which means that….”
Totally missing today…bi directional information flow.
Understanding : need to educate through events like thisPost const– how to integrate into existing applicationsSavings – savings are in the long term, not immediate like design/constRIO: implementation costs could be recovered w/in first 5 yrsModel sharing: Redundant models
Now well positioned to : Require 6D BIM as a deliverable
