1. Why is this important? Respite is planned or emergency care provided to a child or adult with special needs in order to provide temporary relief to family caregivers who are caring for that child or adult. There is a critical and burgeoning need for respite in the United States. Respite is recognized as a key component of comprehensive family support; it is a strategic factor in the prevention of family violence and child abuse. A Positive Story of Possibilities It has been a year wrought with challenges, uncertainty in our economic markets, soaring energy prices, violence in much of our world. Yet in spite of it all, heroes of HOPe have shone like a beacon in a cold, desolate night. The House of Possibilities, (aka HOPe) was borne out of love for children and adults having significant cognitive &/or physical challenges, or as we like to say, “Possibilities”. What We Can Learn They have taught us that love can come in many forms and that a grateful heart will welcome all kinds of love. They have taught us that patience and diplomacy can be learned. They have taught us that despite unspeakable challenges around us, we can make a better world. Join Us Our vision is simple. To see the House of Possibilities grow and become a beacon of light and education for the thousands upon thousands that need and deserve it.
