• A denominator tells us how many parts the
whole is divided into.
The denominator is b in the fraction.

9. Numerator
• The numerator tells us how many of those
parts in the denominator that we are dealing
with.

• What fraction of the students are girls?
• What fraction of students are wearing short
sleeves today?
• What fraction of the students have brown
hair?
Students are to answer the questions in fraction form and draw a
pie chart of the fractions.
