1. This is an introductory activity to get to know a few of the apps. With a
partner, you will be doing an activity that will involve getting to know a
few of the features of the iPad. Each group will use the information
below and complete as many scavenger hunt items as possible within the allotted time (or
whoever completes all answers correctly). Tasks can be completed in any order. Use one
iPad to view this page and another to complete the activities.
Answers requiring writing should be written down on the iPad. What app would you use
for that?
1. Verify that you are on the local WiFi by tapping on the Safari app and going to Google’s
website.
2. Find the telephone number of the local Public Library and write it down.
3. Find and save the basic driving directions you would take from your school to the
nearest hospital. (HINT-Maps app and Screenshot)
4. Take a photo of a document that is displayed on your iPad and a photo containing more
than one person.
5. Take a short video clip of something indoors and outdoors to test the camera and
lighting. Save the footage.
6. Using the Photo Booth app, take a photo of each member of your group. At least one
member has to use one of the effects. Find the photos in the Photos app.
7. Using the Maps app, find a donut shop near the Eiffel Tower.
8. Using Safari, bookmark this site: iPadsWow.com
9. Using Safari, create a web clip of your school's website. (You may want to go to
iPadsWow.com to find directions under the iPad Basics tab.)
10. Install the free iBooks app. In the iBooks store, download iPad Users Guide for iOS 5.1.
The section on Facetime says that when you open FaceTime, you may be prompted to do
what?
11. Watch the video called North Point’s iBand. What are they using to play the music?
12. From the App Store, download Sock Puppets, Doodle Buddy, i-nigma, Educreations,
DemiBooks Composer, and Chicktionary. These are all free apps that we will be using for
this session. Let the instructor know as soon as you are finished with all of the tasks.
