In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media products?
2. My magazine follows the typical conventions of a music magazine as they are very
successful and appeal to a large audience already. To go against the conventions would be
different and could be a possible risk.
I added the name of the magazine in the
top left corner as it’s in the same place on
the majority of magazines so it’s easy for
the consumer to identify it.
I included a barcode
as it’s a convention
of every media Both images have
product. the artist staring
directly at the
camera, I chose
to do this so that
they stand out
more and the
magazine feels
more personal to
the consumer.
I chose to change
the font sizes of the
main stories so that
they stood out more
than the sub stories.
‘EMMA’ is the same as the example shown
and I chose to do this as it instantly informs
the consumer of the artist featured and the
bold capitals allows the text to stand out.
3. The name of my magazine is very similar
to the example shown and I chose to do
this because the simplicity of the ‘Q’
magazine was effective. Simple colours
also allow other colours and images on
the page to stand out more.
My magazine is shown on the left and the example which
influenced my magazine is shown on the right, I chose this
example as I liked the different fonts which it used. The serif
font shows class through the quote and the san-serif font
appears to be more relaxed and laid back. Although both
examples have a strong impact.
