The Caring Committee at Kaiser Permanente Northern California developed initiatives to improve staff morale and patient satisfaction scores by focusing on caring relationships. They implemented (1) staff birthday and potluck celebrations and cards for those in need to build trusting relationships among caregivers. Committee members also supported skills training. (2) Badges were created asking for patient input and scores were monitored for improvement after discussing care plans with patients and having doctors and nurses see laboring patients together to build trust. The intent was to better care for patients by first caring for staff.
