2. Research into a potential target audience is key as it
defines your film and specifies it for an ideal market. As
my film is of the horror genre, it is required that I set the
certificate at 18 as it contains scenes that may be
deemed unsuitable for minors.
My ideal target audience therefore will be young adults
aged 18+. I believe this is the ideal target audience
because it is a young age group who are quite social. It
is also expected that this age group would partake in
group activities such as going to the cinema with their
friends.
3. I will aim for my trailer to:
Create a dark, scary feel for all viewers as it is of the horror
genre.
Use horror conventions such as dark lighting, make up, quick
cuts, chop cuts, short clips, intertitling, range of shots.
Use a suitable location that represents the theme.
Use a range of camera angles and shots.
Use suitable sounds in the editing.
Create a suitable institution.
I can also use Todorov’s theory of equilibrium as the equilibrium
is disturbed by the rising of the dead, threatening humanities
existence and the sole survivor.
There will be a single main character, a protagonist of sorts,
surviving against the zombies.
I will use tension building fast cuts to speed up the action.
