Turkey is like a bridge between Europe and Asia. Bosphorus separates
Asia from Europe. It is in Istanbul.
• Turkey is a peninsula. Black Sea is in the north, Aegian Sea is in the
west and Mediterranean Sea is in the south of Turkey. And it has got
the Marmara Sea in the northwestern of Turkey.

26. Our Town: KOCAELİ
Kocaeli is a province ofTurkey. It was built in 1320.
The province is located at the easternmost end of the Marmara Sea,
especially on the Gulf of İzmit. Because of the size and natural conditions of
the Bay of İzmit, the city is a giant natural harbour.There are lots of harbour
facilities within Kocaeli, including the primary base of theTurkish Navy.
It has got 1.600.000 population. Kocaeli is one of the most important
industrial cities ofTurkey.There are many factories in Kocaeli.
Kocaeli is located between 2 seas which names are Black Sea and Marmara
Sea.
It is next to Istanbul. It is 1 hour far from Istanbul by car.
There are many things to do in Kocaeli.
30. KANDIRA :
Kandıra is a town which is located north of Kocaeli, near the Black
Sea.
Kandıra has many villages. Our school is in a village, named
Kırkarmut. People who live in Kandıra
deal with agriculture.
Kandıra has got many
beaches. Many people
come there from other
cities (especially from
Istanbul) in summer.
Kandıra is famous with its
yoghurt, turkey and
cotton.
