Your goal as a leader is to grow your team. Think
of your team like your family, and treat them as
such. Never give up on your team, just like you
wouldn’t give up on your kids or your family.

I asked my daughter what a leader is….
Remember this is a talk about Leaders… not Bosses or Managers.
The probably with businesses today, is that they train us to be managers, not leaders.
So… What’s it take to be a leader? You must be good at what you do… Be World Class.
Leaders Also take responsibility.
Pete Caroll took responsibility for passing instead of running the ball. he didn’t blame anyone but himself.
you must understand how “what you do” matches up with your “why”
Not us vs. Them…
You always have 1 extra % to give…. Give it. If your team si working late, stay a little later.
Tell outage story… But while breaking the rules, you must be respectful and cooperate.
Even if you don’t agree… you must cooperate, end the day on a positive note. This doesn’t mean back down… Cooperation is huge for employee engagement. Now let’s talk about the different types of bosses and what the effect has on employee engagement.
If a boss ignores an employee… they are 40% more likely to “actively disengage” from work and their company…define actively disengage…
A Critical boss causes 22% increase in actively disengagement… that means, being critical is better than ignoring.
A praising boss … one that praises 1 out of 10 successes usually has less than 1% of employees will actively disengage.
Ben Franklin started his life as a poor news boy… wrote under a female pen name, hustled like hell and became a great American Leader…Ben knew his Why. So.. Are you a leader? If not, what are you afraid of?
dealing with fear… 1) what’s the worst that can happen? 2) Play out the scenario 3) How will you recover… Now, what’s the odds that the scenario will actually happen…
Tell Picaso story… Talk about Training.. remember “It’s a process not a Project”

Let me take a minute to talk a little bit about the Biology of leadership that I learned from Simone Sinek’s “Leaders eat Last” book.
Dopamine - Makes you feel good when you achieve a goal - Highly addictive.
Endorphin - Masks Pain - you feel it when you run.
Oxytocin - Friendship, Love, Loyalty, battles dopamine, not addictive. leads to generosity and service.
Serotonin - Social chemical, makes you feel proud.
There’s one Chemical I didn’t mention earlier. cortisol. The Stress chemical. Tell stories of Gazzels…
Children learn that work is supposed to cause stress and make you grumpy.
Now that you see the importance of good leadership, and some tips around how to do it, let’s talk about time. When I started being a manager, I worked 60… time managemt…..

How soon it matters?
How Important it Matters?
How long it will matter?
When delegating tasks, don’t interrupt people over and over again… do it once.
The Scope of a project will increase to fill the time allowed. So give yourself short deadlines.
Eliminate… If you can’t Eliminate, Automate… If yo can’t Automate, Delegate, if you can’t Delegate… Can you do it later or must it be done now?
