West Area Wins M2M with Trico
Electric Cooperative!
Trico Electric Cooperative, Inc. was formed in
1945 by farmers in Avra Valley, Arizona, who
were seeking to bring electric power to their rural
area. The cooperative currently has over 3,100
miles of energized lines and 40,000 electric
meters. Trico has several thousand smart meters deployed on a competitor’s 2G
network that is being shut down. Losing the ability to read these meters
automatically would mean Trico couldn’t bill their customers as quickly, they
would lose visibility on a large part of their grid and they would have to rely on
manual meter reading, which would cost them hundreds of dollars per meter,
per read. After becoming aware of the impacts of this challenge, the account
team offered Trico peace of mind by addressing their network longevity
concerns and secured an order for 1,150 Smartsync meters! Our reliable
coverage and network knowledge set us apart from the competition. In addition,
our solution will allow Trico to service their customers without any interruptions
and will bring 4G LTE redundancy to their sites.
