Ladonna lives in a single parent home which is her and her grandmother. Her parents have both died 2 years ago. As well the family has moved to the location and do not know the area as well. Also we do not know if the grandmother speaks a different language and if English is her second language.
Conductive Hearing Loss: Is a problem with part of the outer or middle part of the ear Sensory Hearing Loss: Is a problem when the cochlea is not working correctly or damaged Neural Hearing Loss: The problem is with the connection from the cochlea to the brain
4. Mild Impairment: The Child hears and understands a normal conversation but if it is quiet they cannot hear 5. Moderate Impairment: The child does not hear all of the normal conversation and requires louder and aggressive response 6. Severe Impairment: The child will not hear any normal conversation only a few sounds of a loud speech 7. Profound Impairment: The child will only hear the loudest noise, and may not get sufficient help with a hearing aid. 8. Simple Test: eg shaking a rattle nearby a child 9.Auditory Testing: eg Brainstem response test 10. Audiometer: eg machine with sounds (Reading Package One, Two, Three, Chris Class 2011)
Example: In the room, outside, loud music you can lower the volume Examples: Posters, Pictures, Props that are age appropriate Examples: Bright lights in the classroom, make the lights dim for the child and for the other children Examples: Interpreter can work with the child and family before and after the childcare centre or during free play. These strategies can be brought in a large group because it helps teach the other the children how to communicate with each other and respect the children with the disabilities. These help in a large group because it helps the child feel comfortable in the room and understand what you are trying to communicate with them, and especially with other children. As well bring in an interpreter to work with the child and as well and interpreter that can help the grandmother if she does not speak English as her first language. As well brining some one that can help the grandmother to help cope with the lose of Ladonna’s parents.

While doing this project I had some strengths and weakness. My strengths of doing this assignment was being able to do the power point, and finding the information for the project and putting the whole project together and looking professional, and informative. My weakness for this assignment was trying to find out information about the referral process and the availability. As well with the teaching methods I would use in order to make the environment efficient for the child with the special need. What I did to over come these challenges was to call the agencies and contact them to ask about their availability and their referral process. As well to make the environment modified was I used the notes from Chris class and use them to help me with that question. I really enjoyed the project and it was informative as well.
