This document summarizes activities from three pilot projects in Belgium that used social software to promote social inclusion for marginalized youth. The three pilots targeted youth in day care centers, residential facilities, and ambulatory services. Across the pilots, activities included helping with schoolwork, teaching basic digital skills and internet safety, creating online profiles, and providing counseling. The document reflects that activities to improve employability were most successful, while pushing digital skills too quickly on hesitant youth or staff was less effective. It also notes technical issues with the social software platform used and lack of ICT skills among staff.
