Dear Jess,
I was advised by Dr Caitlin Horwood, who works with Tanya Purcell at Moonee Valley
Animal Hospital that your clinic does offer work experience for high school students.
As part of my studies next year, I am required to complete one week of work
experience from the 20th June- 24th June 2016. I also hope to go on and attend
University to study Veterinary Science when I complete High School
From volunteering at Moonee Valley Animal Hospital, as well as working part time at
Woolworths, I have learnt skills that I believe I would be able to use at your clinic. I
am hardworking, persistent, friendly, a quick learner, reliable, dedicated, generous
and courageous
I am currently completing Year 10 at St. Columba’s College and work experience is
apart of our Career Education program. I have been working at Woolworths, Moonee
Ponds, for five months. I have always had a love of animals and am very interested in
this field of work. Over the last several years, I have been exposed to the birthing of
animals, handling of animals, witnessed surgical procedures and have done a lot of
cleaning.
I have also developed core skills for work, these include; having good time
management skills, able to adapt to situations appropriately, how to use a variety of
internet programs and I am able to quickly pick up how to use them, for example
Microsoft Office. I am also proficient in using cash registers. speak to customers, I
respect fellow staff members, I am not afraid to ask for assistance when necessary
and I work well in a team.
