2. Interactive Molecules This could be used in class as visual models of structure This interactive model let us click on different substances and see their molecular patter; e.g.. This is caffeine.
3. A lab experiment using the chemical composition of mountain dew (showing molecular models of the ingredients) and by showing a molecular model of fructose and explaining which colors mean which elements; ask the students a series of questions such as molecular formula; mass; empirical formula; and molarity questions. Mountain Dew Challenge
4. Chemistry Building There were links on all different chemical ideas including tide, potatoes, flame retarded cotton, frozen foods.
5. Ingredients and Their Functions Tide Food Dehydration Each block had a page that opened up and discussed, in detail, about the products and ingredients. This information can be used as a classroom activity where the students read labels of ingredients and discuss their relevance. Frozen Food
6. Black History Month This box linked to an African American Scientist who studied peanut agriculture; named Washington Carver , and this could be used during Black History Month.
7. Electron Configuration This 3D space distinguishes electron orbitals based on color and this could be used as a supplement when students are learning about electrons and their shells.
8. Podcast and Blogging Students can find many good resources and tons of information from podcasts and blogging and if they are good enough; perhaps have them submit assignments of their choice or for extra credit.
9. Broadcasting This gave us a great idea about using the morning announcements and having maybe each day of the week a different subject and for science it can be a mix of chemistry, physics, and earth science; and may all of the sciences can link together or at least have the students exposed to all three sciences.
10. All in all we found this site to be very informational and could also be used as a professional development area due to its enormous amount of educational material. Conclusion
