As a bank trust officer I saw the banks moving
to ever higher minimums – and
clients/beneficiaries becoming simply a
commodity in their sales pipeline to be sold
another bank product. CG Fiduciary Services
was created to work with those who need a
professional independent trustee, but don’t
have the $1,000,000+ of investable assets
that many banks are requiring. We want to
help you take care of you if you become
disabled, and take care of your loved ones as
part of your personal estate plan. We don’t
have any product to sell, just our personal
services as a trustee to work with trust
beneficiaries.

2. Why CG Fiduciary
Services?
We created CGFS because we recognized the
lack of options for many who need the service
of a professional trustee, agent, fiduciary,
conservator, or personal representative.
Attorneys have expressed frustration at
finding fiduciaries today with traditional
banks raising their minimums ever higher
before accepting appointment; and in those
cases where there is no family member to
take on the agent role under powers of
attorney the banks are very reluctant to
assume that role.

What is a Fiduciary?
The fiduciary duty is the highest standard of
care required by law. The fiduciary has to act
with trust and confidence – to protect the
assets for all beneficiaries, follow the
instructions of the grantor, and ensure
confidentiality.

Jim grew up in the Port Huron, Michigan area,
one of 8 children and is married with a
blended family of 7 children and 7
grandchildren. He practiced law as an estate
planning attorney for many years before
joining the banking industry as a trust officer.
After 13 years of experience as a bank trust
officer he decided to create his own office and
rather than treating beneficiaries and clients
more as part of the sales pipeline for bank
products, see them as individual beneficiaries
with needs. Naming friends and relatives to
take on the fiduciary role in your estate
planning can lead to other issues; those
individuals have jobs already, and generally
do not have the background in administering
estate plans and investments.

Our Services
We act as your agent under a power of
attorney, and unlike a bank can act as agent
for both financial and health care powers. We
also act as trustee administering trusts for
you and your beneficiaries. If you have a
trusted financial services provider already
we can work with your advisor because we do
not have any investment products to sell.
Through our relationship with financial
advisors we can arrange for investment as
well as insurance reviews when necessary.
