2. Q5: How did you attract/address your
target audience?
• My target audience is young people aged 15-25 maybe younger than 25
from 15-19 as my magazine is quite teen based. However my magazine
may also attract an older audience an maybe aged 35-50 based upon my
market research as some of the content in my magazine only the older
generation will get especially if there is bands from the 60s, 70s, and 80,
in my magazine. The bands in my magazine will attract my audience
because I have newer and more modern bands for the younger readers
that will hold their attention and tell them all about the ‘now’ bands.
According to my responses the colour scheme attracted them as it quite
dark and many teens today prefer darker colours of Black over lighter
colours such as yellow to go on a magazine. The genre of my magazine is
a hybrid genre meaning music of all genres will all if not most will be in
my magazine which will attract my audience and broaden it as there will
be certain genres people may be interested in and can find it in my
magazine if not in one issue maybe the next one. However my main
genre is rock which was the most popular choice on my research at the
beginning as Rock reaches main stream audiences rather than a niche.
Another thing that attracted my audience was the images of the bands, I
took them on a Nikon DSLR camera which made the images look more
professional. The overall layout was successful with my focus group and
seemed to meet the needs of my audience as it attracted them to the
magazine and they would buy it if it was a real magazine.
