- 5. 72% of online adults are social networking site users. 18% on online adults are now Twitter users. Roughly double the 8% on online adults who use Twitter in November 2010. Six out of ten internet users age 50-64 are social networking site users, as are 43% of those ages 65 and older.
- 6. Two-thirds (63%) of cell phone owners now use their phone to go online. 57% of all American adults are cell internet users. One-third (34%) mostly use their phone to access the internet, as opposed to other devices like a desktop, laptop, or tablet computer.

The technology is available for genealogist to share the information with the younger generation(s) We are becoming a social media driven society. This is another way of keeping in touch with where we came from and where we are headed. There are many forms of technology at our disposal

A blog post will be more likely to hold the attention of a casual reader If your family tree is posted on the web, most people that will contact you have married cousins of your ancestors. Usually you have no more information other than what is on the tree. Anyone who finds the names in a blog post is really looking for your family, and are usually related to you. Blogs make it easier to contact you. Just add a form.

- What is social media? According to Merriam Webster social media Wikipedia’s definition of social media is a means of interaction
- Texting, accessing the internet and sending and receiving email remain popular. Some 50% cell phone owners download apps—up from 22% in 2009. Many use location based services like getting direction or recommendations. Nearly half of cell owners (48%) use their phone to listen to music. The proportion of cell owners who use video calling has tripled since May 2011.
- We want to use technology, not let technology use us.
- Look at the picture on the left and the picture on the right. They both talk about Mathew Riley. The on the left is from the family tree. The one on the right is a blog post. Which one is most interesting to read? Which one looks more interesting to someone that wasn’t interested in genealogy?
- There are many comparisonBasically it all depends on what you want to use the blog for.
- Once you fill in the information, create a user name and password, and the name of your blog. This will be the url for your blog.
- This is where you can change most things about your blog. Its like the control panel. Highlights
- Settings allow you to change the title, tag line, upload a picture to be used as your blog image.
- When ready to post to your blog. You can post text, photos, videos, quotes and web links.
- Your dashboard is the starting point. This is where all your blogs are listed, and you can pick on the icons next to them to perform various actions on each blog, such as:Writing a new post The orange button is what you use to write post with.Viewing your posts. - You can add images and video to your blog. You can add the image or video from the Post editor. Select Post and select either image or video.

- Template designer is a easy way to customize the look of your blog. You can select a variety of templates, images, colors, and column layouts to make your blog an expression of you. To get to the template designer, just click on the dropdown menu, or use the template on the left hand menus.Background You can still change the way your template looks. - First you need to either text or email a message “REGISTER” to go@blogger.com from your phone. You should receive an message from Blogger immediately.A few seconds after receiving this response you should receive a second response with your new blog namd and the claim code. This code is how you can connect your mobile phone to any blog you like.The next step is to use the code to claim your new blog, get on any computer(not your mobile device) and visit go.blogger.com. On the right side of the page you will see the “sign in” area. Enter the claim code that Blogger emailed to you, enter the human code below it.If your REGISTERED with the same email address that you used to register existing blogs with Blogger, the system will recognize that you have other blogs, and provide you with the option to connect your mobile device with those blogs.If your are sending text messages to go@blogger.com the subject become the post title, the body becomes the post itself, and you can even insert pictures as your would with a regular blog post.
