Work hard. Have fun. Make history. TRMS Amazon jobs
Technical Program Manager - TRMS
What is Transaction Risk Management Services?
Transaction Risk Management Services (TRMS) is a centralized platform within Amazon that
protects all of Amazon’s businesses from fraud and abuse, and ensures regulatory compliance
for all of Amazon’s transactions (billions and billions of dollars).
Want to make a direct multi-million dollar impact to Amazon's bottom line?
Amazon’s Transaction Risk Management Services (TRMS) team is responsible for preventing
fraudulent purchases across every Amazon product line. TRMS designs and builds high
performance software systems using machine learning that identify and prevent fraudulent
transactions. Fraud prevention is a real-money game where our software teams strive to
outsmart those who attempt to defraud Amazon and our customers.
What will you be responsible for?
If you are deeply technical, analytical, and innovative and looking for an opportunity to shape
new functionality that directly impacts the company's bottom-line, we want to talk to you. We
are searching for top-notch Senior Technical Program Leaders who will drive key programs from
the idea phase all the way through requirements definition, analysis, technical specifications,
development, quality assurance and product delivery. This is a highly visible role that requires
both business acumen when working with senior management and technical depth for removing
development roadblocks.
In this role you will be responsible for scoping complex projects and delivering simple, elegant
solutions by collecting product and business requirements, driving the development schedule
from design to release, making appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, and clearly
communicating goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional
teams. You will interact with a broad cross section of the Amazon organization as you clarify
ambiguous issues and negotiate effective technical solutions between development and
business teams. You will anticipate bottlenecks and escalate issues when required in order to
ensure on-time delivery.
The role requires a veteran who has excellent experience as a Technical Program Manager for
distributed SOA software systems and can guide high-level technical design as well as think
about potential, future areas of fraud that our platform might encounter.
Basic Qualifications
 Prior experience with building software
 5 years of experience in a program/product management role
 Engineering or science college degree or 5 years of experience working on software
development projects
 Invent and write specifications for new technical features based on your understanding
of the business problems you are solving, in coordination with engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
 Operate independently without being given specific directions
 Understand the technical details of software systems in a self-directed manner by
reading documentation and reviewing code and database schemas
 Trouble-shoot technical bugs
 Calmly lead teams when faced with high severity crisis situations
 Invent and write procedures for new operational processes based on your understanding
of the business problems you are solving, in coordination with operational teams
 Define and build metrics to track performance and identify areas of improvement for the
program in coordination with a data analytics team
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills; make data-driven arguments and
influence executives with written narratives
 Assess business impact, prioritize initiatives and quickly react to a fast-paced, dynamic
environment
 Operate and thrive with partial information and ambiguity and create structure for the
teams you lead
 Excellent time management, resource management and project planning skills
 Estimate, schedule and track projects; proactively course correct projects that get off
track
 Proactively identify upcoming risks, issues, and bottlenecks and resolve issues that
sometimes cross departmental boundaries
