Ed looks at best practice for those involved in small digitisation projects with challenging budgets. Considering how to set appropriate, but pragmatic project aims and quality standards and the cheapest and easiest ways of attaining those goals. Reviewing the simple methods that can be used to digitise that still remain within our understandings of 'best practice'. Where can savings be made and where is a limited budget best concentrated.

- Cameras have become the cheap part. Just looked at a GRAZ book cradle for 10,000euros or so.....but recommendation was for a sub 500Euro camera.
- What happens if you just don’t have the money to do the job how you would like to do it... But still you do want to do it if you can.... Cutting your cloth to fit your budget as it were
- There are quite a few projects that were set up to use very high quality images, but now find that for a large majority of the time most are only used at much lower qualities. It may also be that the type of project has changed, with all the pretty high quality workshops already gone
