What is Jorum?
• a FREE online service providing access to learning and
teaching resources, contributed by staff in UK
Universities and Colleges;
• these resources can be shared, reused and repurposed;
• 2 Jorum collections:
– JorumOpen: access to OERs available under Creative Commons
licensing;
– JorumUK: resources for sharing within UK FE and HE ‐ through
an institutional licence.

Jorum and the UKOER Programme:
• All resources deposited in JorumOpen tagged as #UKOER;
• JorumOpen contains and points to all project outputs
from the UKOER Programme:

Jorum developments over the last year:
• a new system:
– “Submitted the 5 guides (video & print) we've produced [for the
JISC web2practice project] so far. The process was surprisingly easy and
quick!” (Steve Boneham, Netskills);
• reduced metadata profile;
• bulk deposit methods developed (e.g. RSS);
• JorumOpen is exposed to search engines (e.g. Google);
• content package preview;
• a unified search tool.

Future plans:
• new licensing options:
– JorumEducationUK;
• a search widget – embeddable in VLEs;
• Jorum is supporting projects in the next round of funding;
• a new visual identity for Jorum.

In conclusion:
• Jorum is the place to find and share OERs;
• Jorum can support and add value to open sharing:
– by enabling material to be shared, discovered and downloaded
openly under Creative Commons licensing;
– by providing a trusted source of online learning and teaching
resources;
– by increasing the visibility of these resources.
