Joint Base Chaplain announces 24/7 phone for ‘On Call Duty
Chaplain’
Effective immediately, the Joint Base Chaplain has instituted the “On Call Duty
Chaplain” telephone and number for individuals to call and talk with a chaplain, 24
hours a day, seven days a week: 202-236-4901.
Need help? Know someone who does? Suicide is preventable
The Veterans Crisis Line connects veterans and their loved ones in crisis with
qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders 24 hours a day, 7 days a

New -- Old Post Chapel to return to normal operations; parking to be
limited to chapel event participants
Beginning Monday, Sept. 16, at 6 a.m., the Old Post Chapel parking lot will no
longer be available to employees or visitors to other than events being held at the
chapel.
The Old Post Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall,
has undergone a renovation in the past eight months and is now ready for normal
operations to begin again. The chapel is host to both funerals and weddings throughout
the year, with the chapel parking lot reserved for participants in these events only.
Alternate parking is in the large “Tri-Services” lot between the Arlington National
Cemetery wall and McNair Road.
There will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. in
front of the chapel, weather permitting. Everyone is invited. Parking on this day will be
limited and reserved for off-base guests. Enjoy the early fall weather and take a walk to
the chapel for the ceremony if you can.

New -- ‘Ruach Warrior’ bible study every Wednesday
The “Ruach Warrior” (Ruach is a Hebrew word meaning spirit of God) is a weekly,
non-denominational bible study. Held each Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to noon in the
chapel, Building 29, first floor, on the Henderson Hall side of the joint base, the next
gathering is Wednesday, Sept. 18. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited to
participate for lively discussion.

New -- ‘Phishing’ attempt suspected
If you receive an email regarding "Notification for Employee Drug Test," from
"debbie.moss12@us.army.mil," directing you to call "256-876-5686 or visit
"http://armysubstanceabuse.us/" DO NOT respond to the email, call or visit the
website.
This is a “phishing” attempt. Phishing is the act of attempting to get personal
information -- user names, passwords, credit card information -- by seeming to be a
trustworthy activity such as the Army Substance Abuse Program.

The annual Joint Force Headquarters - National Capital Region and U.S. Army
Military District of Washington’s Emergency Preparedness Exposition is Wednesday,

the joint base.

New -- Child, youth services looks to fiscal 2013 year close
In order to facilitate a successful closeout for fiscal year end, the Child, Youth and
School Age Services program will not collect fees Saturday, Sept. 28 through Monday,
Sept. 30. The collection database (CYMS and Webtrack) will be closed down during this
time.
To avoid any late fee, parents must pay by Friday, Sept. 27.

New -- Marine officers sought for National Youth Leadership forum
As part of our educational outreach efforts, Marine Corps Public Affairs is seeking
Marine officer volunteers (ranks of O3 – O6 in service “C”), to assist with the National
Youth Leadership Forum Wednesdays, Sept. 25, Oct. 2 and 9, on the Fall Career Panel
(from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.) and Career Fair (from 8:45 to 9:30 p.m.).
The location is National 4-H Conference Room, 7100 Connecticut Ave., Chevy Chase,
Md. This forum is a non-profit educational organization founded to help prepare high
school juniors and seniors with scholastic merit and strong leadership potential for their
future professional careers. The organization's mission is to use professionals to inspire
young people with confidence to make informed career choices in the areas of law,
medicine and technology. The Fall Career Panels focus on Defense, Intelligence and
Diplomacy.
The panels serve as an opportunity for students to explore career options in defense,
intelligence or diplomacy through speaker presentations and question and answer
periods. The unique experience of hearing from experts in the field presents students
with the possibility of discovering specific information related to career paths they are
interested in while also challenging and inspiring them to consider additional career
options within the field of national security. The Career Exploration Fair presents the
opportunity to network and explore career opportunities with representatives of
schools and agencies to discuss topics such as college recruitment and admissions,
national security issues, military or civilian government service careers or current
international affairs issues. Panelists will discuss educational background, career
experiences and provide advice to high school students on possible career paths.

New -- VA claims assistance available
If you are thinking of filing a claim with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the
National Service Officer from American Veterans can assist you. The representative will
be in Building 29 in the Career Resource Management Center on the Henderson Hall
side of the joint base on the second and fourth Thursday of each month (Next meeting
is Sept. 26). For assistance, bring your service medical records, private physician’s
records, DD Form 214, marriage certificate, children’s birth certificates and copies of
your dependents’ social security cards. The National Service Officer will consult with
you about the condition for which you are considering filing a claim.

Job-seeker classes slated
The MCCS Career Resource Management Center holds three classes in September for
job seekers. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 9 – 11:30 a.m., learn about the federal SES application
process. Wednesday, Sept. 18, pick up résumé writing tips at a class held 9 a.m. – noon.
Thursday, Sept. 19, “Cracking the Code to the Federal Hiring Process” is held 1 – 3 p.m.
All classes are held in Building 29 on the Henderson Hall side of the joint base, Room

New -- Plan for retirement
Thursday, Sept. 19, learn how to plan for retirement from active duty then for good
at a workshop 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Building 29, Room 204, aboard the Henderson

New -- US Army Band has music for children of all ages
The US Army Band presents “Musical Stories for KIDS of All Ages” Saturday, Sept.
21 at 10:30 a.m. At 10 a.m. there will be an “Instrument Petting Corral” at Brucker Hall
on the Fort Myer side of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. At this kids' concert, even the
littlest audience member can experience the can-do spirit of their America and their
Army through history, literature, art, movement and music!

coins).

Zembiec Pool closed for transition to winter hours
The Maj. Douglas A. Zembiec Pool is closed for transition to winter hours. The dome
will be placed on top of the pool in the next few weeks, and the start of winter hours
will be announced.

Semper Fit intramural flag football
Registration is open for Semper Fit’s intramural football league. Games are played
select weekdays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning in October on the Fort Myer field. League
play is open to all authorized patrons, and teams consist of 20 players plus a coach. The
season ends in late November. Rosters are available online at www.mccsHH.com and
in person at the Cpl. Terry L. Smith Gymnasium and the Semper Fit Office in Building
29 on the Henderson Hall side of the joint base.

New -- MPD S1 conference Sept. 24
The next Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Military Personnel Division’s S1
conference is set for Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Pentagon, PLC2,
Conference Room B-2.
The conference goal is to strengthen existing working partnerships between JBM-HH
Military Personnel Division and Pentagon human resource personnel and agencies, to
have and build consensus on efficient and effective services to customers.

EFMP respite care reimbursement program workshop
A workshop on the Exceptional Family Member Program Respite Care
Reimbursement program use and the changes that will be effective this October is
Monday, Sept. 26, noon to 1 p.m. Building 12 on the Henderson Hall side of the joint
base, conference room.
This brief outlines the background, use, requirements, level of need and changes to
the respite care policy. The course is available via WebEx by request, as well as face-to-
face at Henderson Hall.

New -- Hispanic Heritage month to be celebrated Oct. 2
Join friends and colleagues for the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration Wednesday,
Oct. 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Center, Building 405 on the Fort
Myer side of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.
Special guest speaker is Ismael Martinez, director of the Office of Equal Employment
Opportunity for the National Archives and Records Administration.

New -- Military Sport Rider course at Fort Belvoir Oct. 4
Fort Belvoir's Motorcycle Safety Foundation will hold its first Military Sport Rider
Course Friday, Oct. 4. Prior to this, military and civilian personnel had either to go to
Quantico or Fort Meade to complete the required training.
This Military Sport Rider Course is required for those who ride a sport bike and must
be completed within 12 months of completing the Basic Rider Course, in accordance
with Army Regulation 385-10.

Family Readiness
Stress Management (introductory for adults)
There will be a Stress Management (introductory level presentation for adults),
Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. in Building 201, the ACS classroom on the Fort
Myer side of the joint base.
Participants will complete a Stress Profile and receive information on the impact
unmanaged stress has on their life, review options for managing stress and receive
materials to assist them in developing their own unique stress management plan.

New -- ‘Baby Boot Camp’ slated
The New Parent Support Program holds Baby Boot Camp Friday, Sept. 20 from 8:30
a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Building 12, conference room aboard the Henderson Hall
portion of the joint base. Expectant parents learn the basics of baby care and how to
enjoy their new role as parents. Participants are treated to a free lunch thanks to Navy
Mutual Aid Association.

A “Marriage Enrichment” workshop and PREP (Prevention and Relationship
Enhancement Program) will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in
Building 29, Room 105 aboard the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base.

Spouse ‘meet and greet’ set
An opportunity for newly arrived spouses to meet other spouses and get information
about the joint base and the surrounding area is slated for Tuesday, Sept. 24 from noon

HH.

Anger management class slated
An anger management (introductory level presentation for adults), will be held
Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. in Building 201, ACS classroom, on the Fort
Myer side of the joint base. Participants will learn about the basic principles of emotions
management, specific information about the impact of unmanaged anger and receive
resources on how to recognize and manage the anger triggers in their own lives.

Make it a ‘Smooth Move’
“Smooth Move” is an informal joint service briefing for service members planning to
make a Permanent Change of Station -- PCS. Next session is Thursday, Sept. 26 from 1
to 3 p.m. in Marine and Family Services, Building 12 on the Henderson Hall side of
JBM-HH.
Learn about your new duty station, moving with TRICARE, arranging household
goods shipment with the Transportation Office, sponsorship, housing and more.

The Transportation Motor Pool fueling station will close Friday, Sept. 27 at noon and

New -- Old Post Chapel to return to normal operations; parking to be limited to chapel event participants Beginning Monday, Sept. 16, at 6 a.m., the Old Post Chapel parking lot will no longer be available to employees or visitors to other than events being held at the chapel. The Old Post Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, has undergone a renovation in the past eight months and is now ready for normal operations to begin again. The chapel is host to both funerals and weddings throughout the year, with the chapel parking lot reserved for participants in these events only. Alternate parking is in the large “Tri-Services” lot between the Arlington National Cemetery wall and McNair Road. There will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. in front of the chapel, weather permitting. Everyone is invited. Parking on this day will be limited and reserved for off-base guests. Enjoy the early fall weather and take a walk to the chapel for the ceremony if you can. For more information, call 703-696-3290. New -- Marine officers sought for National Youth Leadership forum As part of our educational outreach efforts, Marine Corps Public Affairs is seeking Marine officer volunteers (ranks of O3 – O6 in service “C”), to assist with the National Youth Leadership Forum Wednesdays, Sept. 25, Oct. 2 and 9, on the Fall Career Panel (from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.) and Career Fair (from 8:45 to 9:30 p.m.). The location is National 4-H Conference Room, 7100 Connecticut Ave., Chevy Chase, Md. This forum is a non-profit educational organization founded to help prepare high school juniors and seniors with scholastic merit and strong leadership potential for their future professional careers. The organization's mission is to use professionals to inspire young people with confidence to make informed career choices in the areas of law, medicine and technology. The Fall Career Panels focus on Defense, Intelligence and Diplomacy. The panels serve as an opportunity for students to explore career options in defense, intelligence or diplomacy through speaker presentations and question and answer periods. Semper Fit intramural flag football Registration is open for Semper Fit’s intramural football league. Games are played select weekdays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning in October on the Fort Myer field. New -- Military Sport Rider course at Fort Belvoir Oct. 4 Fort Belvoir's Motorcycle Safety Foundation will hold its first Military Sport Rider Course Friday, Oct. 4. Prior to this, military and civilian personnel had either to go to Quantico or Fort Meade to complete the required training. This Military Sport Rider Course is required for those who ride a sport bike and must be completed within 12 months of completing the Basic Rider Course, in accordance with Army Regulation 385-10. Family Readiness Stress Management (introductory for adults) There will be a Stress Management (introductory level presentation for adults), Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. in Building 201, the ACS classroom on the Fort Myer side of the joint base. Participants will complete a Stress Profile and receive information on the impact unmanaged stress has on their life, review options for managing stress and receive materials to assist them in developing their own unique stress management plan.
