1. Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Community Leaders:
Capital Area United Way (CAUW) is hosting its 2012 Community Impact Mini-Summit on
Student Achievement on Thursdays, September 20 and 27. The forum on September 20
will focus on school readiness. The forum on September 27 will focus on students
staying in school and succeeding. The sessions will take place at the Nonprofit Center
at the Armory in the Consumers Energy Board Room from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The address
is 330 Marshall Street in Lansing. Sufficient parking will be available and a hearty snack
will be provided.
You are invited to come to share your expertise and experience in the area of early
childhood learning or middle and high school student success. Your knowledge along
with that of other youth service providers will help CAUW gain a greater understanding
of the concerns, as well as ways to impact change for student achievement—the key
objective of the talks.
I’ve attached a draft of the agenda to give you a preview of the discussion format. I‘ve
also attached the RSVP form. Please complete the form and return it via email or fax by
September 17, 2012. Your RSVP will help us order the right amount of food. My email
address is p.hemingway@micauw.org and the fax number is 517.203.5001.
We hope you or a representative can attend at least one or both of the forums
particularly related to student achievement. Your viewpoint is important. We look
forward to seeing you on September 20th and/or 27th. Feel free to share this
announcement with your colleagues and network of associates. If you have any
questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
