INTER -COLLEGE CHEF COMPETITION
A REPORT
“In the middle ages people were tourists because of their religion, whereas now
they are tourists because tourism is their religion “
IEC Institute of Hotel Management, one of the prominent name in Hotel
Management Colleges organized aN Inter-College Chef Competition – Chef’s
Cook Off as a part of Technical Fest Innovision-2013 on 16th March, 13 at IEC-
IHM premises.
IEC Institute of Hotel Management, Greater Noida, commemorates the
National Level Chef Competition on 16th March 2013 with Chief Guest, Chef
Rajat Dixit, Sous Chef , Jaypee Group of Hotels and Chef Dibyendu Misra
Executive Sous Chef ,Hotel Radisson Blu, Greater Noida. Other Important
dignitaries from IEC Group of Institutes presence were also a source of motivation
for all.
2. Our students welcomed our guests in a traditional way by doing Aarti and
presenting Flower bouquet to the Chief guests.
This is an annual event that we organize to provide the students a platform to
display their talents which cannot be exhibited in a classroom in the regular course
of studies. This event was organized with the objective of developing talent of the
students in their area of expertise, improving their capabilities to work as a team
and raising their level of self-confidence in interacting with fellow students and
peers.
During the preparation for participating such Inter-College competitions, they learn
Team Dynamics, Leadership, Discipline, & Perseverance which helps to boost up
their self confidence and help them to be better communicators. The whole process
leads them towards being better individuals ready to take up the reins of managing
challenges in life more effectively.
The day unfolded with the Chef Competition in which total 09 IHM Institutes
across the country participated .The schedule of the competition was as below-

[01.00 P.M – 02.00 P.M (For Presentation/Recipe
Writing)
3. The Participants were required to prepare one Starter (Salad) and one Dessert
using ingredients available in the basket. Basket of ingredients for the competition
was allotted on Table no. wise in the presence of participants. After the preparation
food presentation was done which was judged by Chief guest Chef Rajat Dixit,
Sous Chef, Jaypee Group of Hotels and Chef Divyendu Misra, Executive Sous
Chef, Hotel Radisson Blu Greater Noida.The students were judged on the
following parameters for the Chef Competition-
Presentation of dishes 10Mark
Creativity & Innovation 10 Marks
Taste, Colour, Aroma & Texture 10 Marks
Written Recipe 10 Marks
Nutritional Balance 10 Marks
TOTAL 50 Marks
4. Outstanding achievers were felicitated by our Chief Guest Chef Rajat Dixit and
Chef Dibyendu Misra Executive Sous Chef Radisson Blu Greater Noida, guest of
honor Prof. B.N Roy (Vice President-IEC Group of Institutions), Dr. D.B Singh
(Director-IEC Group of Institutions) and Prof.Ankit Chadha ,Director-IEC IHM.
Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of hotel management and catering
technology,New Delhi was awarded with the 1st prize and IEC Institute of
Hotel Management was awarded with the second prize.
Students of BCIHMCT-Prateek and Prashant were awarded the 1st position in
the Chef Competition
5. Students of IEC IHM-Manish and Shikha of BHMCT-2nd Year were awarded
the 2nd position in the Chef Competition.
The entire event was highly appreciated by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.
By continuous clapping, the participating students and the teachers who were
behind each competition got encouragement and felt delighted. The basic objective
for such an event was to lay more emphasis on all round development and increase
team building among students. Students served an Indian Menu to all the guest and
faculties.
The event was concluded with a Vote of Thanks to all guests along with
mementoes given by Director-IEC-IHM, Prof. Ankit Chadha. All IHM
students were appreciated by our guests of honors.
