- Also this year the results on IPv6 capabilities of Alexa top 500 sites were measured. A website is considered IPv6 reachable if the DNS resolves to IPv6 over IPv6 and website content is obtained over IPv6. In July an intermediate analysis did not show much improvement. To test whether this was caused by websites accessible only through www or IPv6 subdomains the list of tested domain names was broadened with subdomains www and IPv6 to improve. This happened on the 14th of July. It did result in an increase in number of websites but also here not much improvement was visible. The conclusion is therefore that growth in IPv6 capable websites is negligible.
