This document discusses the initial site selection process for pig value chain projects in Uganda. A four-step process is outlined: 1) geographical targeting using GIS analysis of pig population density and poverty levels, 2) stakeholder consultation on criteria, 3) developing a checklist of additional data needed, and 4) final site selection. Participants are asked to help identify additional "non-GIS criteria" and confirm if potential sites identified through GIS analysis and soft criteria are appropriate. Maps show pig density, poverty levels, and potential target districts. Next steps include site visits, adapting an assessment toolkit, and conducting baseline surveys at selected sites.
