Denver Coach Federation in process of rebranding name to ICF Colorado
As announced at the May monthly meeting and in last month's newsletter, the Denver Coach
Federation is in process of rebranding our name to ICF Colorado.
This transition will be taking place over the next few months.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to make updates as quickly as possible.
Message from Marty Vondrell
President, ICF Colorado
Welcome to summertime! The pools are opening, and the kids are getting out of school. The days
are getting hotter, and people are talking about their upcoming vacations. Life is good! Do you
feel it? Are you appreciating it? Take time to bask in the moment right now. As coaches know,
there is nothing more important than the present moment. My hope is that you are taking plenty
of these moments every day. In my humble opinion, it is a key part of living an empowered life.
At the ICF Colorado, we continue to grow. We are at record high membership levels! I love the
energy at the meetings and the positivity is contagious. In May, we hosted an ICF booth at the
international ASTD conference that was a wonderful success. We met hundreds of people and
2. answered lots of questions. It is very fulfilling to watch the coaching industry blossom into an
instrumental part of business and society.
At this month's meeting, we have an amazing panel of seasoned coaches that have offered to
impart their wisdom and experiences for us. This will be a great meeting to learn tips and
suggestions to grow and to refine our coaching practices. We have a wide variety of specialties
represented; I am really looking forward to it. It will be a great send off to the summer since we
do not have general meetings during July and August.
As a coach, we all talk to our clients about what they are doing, what they are feeling and who
they are being. It may surprise you that I talk to my clients a lot about what they should stop
doing. This month I would like to challenge you. It is critically important to contemplate what we
do, and that includes what we should STOP doing. What should you stop doing? What is that one
thing that would improve your life or business if you stopped doing it? I challenge you to search
for it. It may be easy to find, or it may be a little harder. You may be able to find it in the moment
of contemplation, or you may have to ask your coach or colleagues. Either way, I challenge you to
look for it, find it, and eliminated it from your life for 21 days. See what happens and evaluate the
results.
You do not have to change the world. You only have to change yourself in a positive direction,
little by little, one thing at a time to make a powerful impact. As Gandhi said, "my life is my
message." I hope you will make your life your message. What you do and what you choose NOT to
do is your message. I look forward to witnessing your message at the next ICF Colorado meeting.
With the warmest regards,
Marty Vondrell

Topic: "Structure and Insights into a Successful Coaching Practice"
For our June meeting, we will have a panel of seasoned coaches who have created a structure of a
successful coaching practice discuss their perspectives, insights and experiences regarding what it
takes to be a successful coach. There will be an open Q&A session conducted at the end of the
discussion.
Key take-aways:
An overview of the key elements of a successful coaching practice.
Key contributors to each of the panelists' success in their different areas of coaching,
including an overview of their pathway to success.
Open questions from the audience to individual panelist or to the panel as a whole.
We see this presentation as the beginning of a continuing dialogue with the ICF Colorado
community, with discussions feeding into the SIGs, setting the stage for expanded community
3. outreach, and much more.
REQUEST TO SUBMIT QUESTIONS FOR PANEL PRIOR TO JUNE MEETING
To "jump start" the discussion, we wanted to provide an overview of the current status and
evolution of professional coaching. As you review the information below, we request you email us
at info@denvercoach.com with questions you would like to have the panel address at the meeting.
Key Points from the ICF Global Study:*
Total number of coaches worldwide is 47,500.
Total revenue generated worldwide from coaching is nearly $2 billion USD dollars ($m
1,979 USD).
The annual average revenue generated by coaching is $47,900 USD.
The ICF Membership numbers in 1999 were 2,122 members (based in North America), and the
numbers in 2012 are 21,972 members (May) in 114 countries - 51% in North America or about
11,000. (This number is subject to change).
*The ICF did a major global study, and the final report will be out toward the end of June; be sure
to look for that upcoming report.
Consider these 7 Key Elements of a Successful Coaching Practice:
The Coach
Business
Marketing - the "What"
Marketing - the "How"
Sales & Sustainability
Technology & Equipment
Team to help run your business
Which of these elements do you find the most challenging? The least challenging? Why?
Share with us at info@denvercoach.com.

5+ Years of Coaching Experience? You’re Invited to Check Us Out
The next meeting of the Experienced Coaches SIG is June 20th from 7-9pm.
Our 15-minute presentation for the meeting this month will be a continuation of the "Successful
Coaches Panelists" presentation from the June ICF Colorado general meeting.
6. Summary of the May SIG meeting: Our meeting began with check ins around the circle (we
decided to include feedback and the receiving of resources and ideas from others in the circle as
we checked in). We discussed the shared experience of this SIG - sense of community with
like-minded folks; save, free and open expression; sharing and receiving current needed
resources, including marketing ideas; and good energy and inspiration of shared new tools and
ideas. Jonathan and Laurie Weiss made a very valuable 15-minute interactive presentation on the
affirmation of the value of logosynthesis and a discussion around framing of this concept for
coaching and the business community.
Location:
3855 S. Hibiscus Way Denver, CO 80237
(west on Hampden from 1-25 to Happy Canyon)
We look forward to seeing you there!
The NEXT MEETING is always the Wednesday after the regular ICF Colorado General meeting.

philosophy is based on Integral Coaching, a discipline that enables clients to become more aware

The ICF Colorado Board of Directors
Membership in the ICF Colorado
Summer is approaching but you can still join now - attend the June meeting as a new member
AND participate in our Spring Membership Drive. Please help us build our membership and earn
Starbucks cards in the process. For every new member who puts your name in the referral field on
the application, you will earn a $10 Starbucks card. When we tabulate the results of our
Membership Drive in November, the member who has brought in the most new members will win
a $50 gift card. That’s pretty fabulous and we all benefit from having a robust and growing
organization. So, please invite your colleagues and fellow coaches to join and put your name in
the referral field when they fill out the application.
So why should coaches and prospective coaches want to join ICF Colorado? As a member of ICF
Colorado, they will join a wonderful community of individuals committed to making a difference in
the lives of their clients, connecting with other coaches, developing themselves, and contributing
to the profession of coaching. Our community includes brand new coaches as well as very
experienced and highly successful ones. We also welcome those who are exploring coaching as a
profession and who have not yet started the process of becoming a coach.
There are many benefits to membership in ICF Colorado starting with being able to attend the
monthly meetings at no additional cost. The educational presentations during our meetings are
delivered by highly successful coaches with special expertise and are but one of the resources
available for helping our members develop and refine their coaching skills and build their
businesses. As a member, one has the opportunity to network with other coaches and participate
in one of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The SIGs are led by experienced coaches, giving
participants the opportunity to learn and engage in lively discussion. Two of the three SIGs are
held immediately prior to the meeting, and we encourage everyone to check them out. In addition
to the SIGs and monthly educational programming, we also have other programs and events such
as workshops and tele-classes, with reduced rates for members.
When highly experienced coaches, coaches building their practices, and those who are just getting
started join together to support their chosen field, magic happens. So please help us grow our
membership and be part of the magic we can create.
It’s very easy to join by going to the ICF Colorado website and filling out the form:
http://sn.im/joindcf.
If you have questions about membership, please call me at 303-503-9681.
Thank You!
