1. ICF Colorado Newsletter
January 2014
IN THIS ISSUE:
Message from Stephanie Wachman
President, ICF Colorado
This past week I decided to try and get off the
info grid. I wanted to go cold turkey, but I had
a compulsion to periodically check my cell
phone . . . and by periodically I mean every
hour instead of every 5 seconds. I also decided
not to respond to emails and VMs for a few
days over the holiday. This was a pretty good
exercise for me! I learned that my need to
check email isn't a compulsion, but a need to
stay connected, even if I can't always connect.
This need to be connected got me thinking
about ICF Colorado, our community and how truly important it is to
stay connected to one another, even if we can't always physically
connect.
Although we would love to have you join us at every ICF Colorado
meeting, we know that it is not always possible. At our December
board retreat, we really focused on what we can do to help our
members stay connected. Our focus in 2014 is to continue bringing
excellent speakers to our meetings and give you plenty of notice of
what's coming up on our calendar. We are also working on more
webinars/teleseminars that you can call into as well as peer advisory
groups to help you grow your business. 2014 will also provide ample
opportunity for more networking with peers and volunteer
opportunities.
Connection was really evident at the Holiday Party at Shift. The food
was great as was the entertainment, and there were many areas
where members could just hang out and socialize. The best part
about this party was to see how happy and joyful everyone truly
was.
Remember that if you can't always physically connect with our ICF

EXPERIENCED EXECUTIVE COACHES CASE STUDY SIG
January 9, 2014
6:00 - 6:50pm
If you are an Executive Coach who wants to grow your skills and
bounce ideas around with other Executive Coaches, then this group
is for you!
Our popular understanding of emotion is erroneous and can cause
people to respond in performance-diminishing or even careerlimiting ways. Come learn about and practice a new coaching
technique that transforms potentially derailing emotions (anger will
be used as an example) into leadership accelerators.
This session will be taught by Charles Jones, a cognitive theorist
who has developed a game changing new theory of emotion.
Each month, we will be reviewing and discussing a case study or
new industry development from HBR (Harvard Business Review)
unless otherwise noted.
Members who are interested in this Case Study Group need to
register with Stephanie Wachman so that articles can be sent out
and read in advance of the meeting.
