Message from Reuel Hunt
President, ICF Colorado

New beginnings: connection – community – contribution . . .

We are excited about the possibilities for ICF-CO in 2013, and I am proud to be taking over the
helm from Marty Vondrell as the new President. Marty will be working on a new coaching
opportunity in Seattle. We will certainly miss him and wish him all the best.

The new Board met in December and created a new purpose statement; a statement answering
the question, "We exist for the sake of what?"

We support the growth and sustainability of the coaching community in our area by connecting our
members with valuable resources such that they thrive personally and professionally.

From that purpose statement, we selected three key areas of focus for the next six months:

Board Agreements, Values, Norms
• To build a solid, cohesive and professional leadership team equipped to support a thriving
coaching community

Community Building in General Meetings
• To foster a stronger sense of member engagement and belonging

Member Retention and Satisfaction
• To meet the needs of a diverse community of coaches and build a stronger chapter

To build a thriving coaching community, we need your help!

I invite you to join us in taking our organization to a new level of quality and growth by
contributing your skills and talents as a volunteer or Board member and by engaging in your local
coaching community.

With three of our Board members moving on to other ventures, we now have several openings
that need to be filled as soon as possible: Membership, Secretary and President-Elect.

Please go to our website to review the position descriptions. Let us know of your interest by
emailing info@icfcolorado.org. One of our Board members will contact you with application details.

My personal vision for ICF CO and for the Board is that through connection, community and
contribution, we build a thriving, vibrant supportive membership and Board that brings our
purpose statement to fruition.

We are excited to kick off 2013 with Michael Stratford, "Provoke, Evoke, or Go Home" on January
10th.

Yes, we are holding in balance the full spectrum of all the coaching profession elements, providing
you the coaching community and the resources needed to thrive both personally and
professionally.

Wishing you Joy, Peace and Prosperity in the New Year,
Reuel J. Hunt
President, ICF Colorado

Next Monthly Meeting: January 10, 2013

Date: January 10, 2013

Time: 7:00PM to 9:00PM

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) conducted before the general meeting
from 6:00 - 6:50pm.

Location: PPA Event Center, 2105 Decautur St, Denver, CO 80211

Speaker: Michael Stratford
Topic: "Provoke, Evoke or Go Home!"

*CCEU: 1 in Core Competencies; 1 in Resource Development

Presencing transformation is NOT an option!

In this vibrant talk . . . leaders, speakers, coaches and others of influence are challenged to be
something more - to be the embodiment of a presence that is dedicated to:

* Provoking meaningful and lasting change in others instead of just helping them get more stuff
done.

* Evoking what is more powerful, congruent and fulfilling from people.

* Passionately engaging in the process of transformation instead of the ordinary transactional
focus of how to get goals accomplished and acquire more things.

Attendees will learn:

   1. The context of effective provocation
   2. Three of the key areas to provoke
   3. Three of the key areas to evoke

About Michael Stratford
Michael is a champion of uniqueness. It’s been said he’s a blend of Robin Williams, and the Dalai
lama. But that doesn’t include the business savvy, range and depth of experience garnered from
56 different jobs, his clearly provocative nature, and the mastery born of 2 decades of coaching
clients from rock bands to Fortune 500 company execs and their teams.

And while doing all of that, he has trained over 6,000 coaches and authored 4 books on coaching
including Masterful Questions and The Game of Coaching. He’s even had time to run the NYC and
San Diego Marathons, act on Broadway and Soap operas, and marry an Aussie who is his A to Z
and then some.

In field of Executive Coaching, he has earned a reputation for helping others achieve a level of
excellence in communication, leadership, and team performance. Michael has coached clients in
diverse industries such as banking, IT, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and even the gaming
world. Among others, he’s focused on Leadership Development and teamwork at Cisco Systems,
Ford, GM, GE, the Whirlpool Corporation, Wells Fargo, Healthcare Services IT, Abbott Labs and
online gaming company, Blizzard Entertainment.

Michael specializes in the Art of Provocative Inquiry for Leadership Development. His creativity,
love of language, and sensing acuity have helped his clients align with emerging trends and
personally congruent solutions. Michael has a light and playful approach. Yet through his keen
insights, masterful coaching and training, he quickly reveals a depth of knowledge and
understanding on a wide range of human and organizational issues.

PLEASE NOTE: Everyone must register for the monthly meetings including ICF Colorado
members.

Facilitated by: Reuel Hunt & Lauren Fisher

5+ Years of Coaching Experience? You’re Invited to Check Us Out

The next meeting of the Experienced Coaches SIG is January 16th from 7-9pm.

In our new format, we focus and go deeper on one topic that surfaces during our check-ins, and
we keep our check-ins bottom-lined and time sensitive so we can go deeper on a chosen topic.

Summary of the December SIG meeting: We began with check-ins all around, including sharing of
resources relevant to each person's check-in. The check-ins led to a discussion on this topic:
"Following a reflection on the 2012 significant events, including young white male shootings,
natural weather related human suffering, the election, and the US financial cliff, we talked about
the importance of building community, connection and contribution, and we ended with questions,
and some suggestions, about how to incorporate that into the monthly ICF Colorado Chapter
meetings."

Location:
3855 S. Hibiscus Way Denver, CO 80237
(west on Hampden from 1-25 to Happy Canyon)

Please contact Lauren or Reuel to receive more details about this SIG.

Please send your RSVP to Reuel at rjhunt@earthlink.net

We look forward to seeing you there!

In the Spotlight: Gayle Rodgers

ICF Colorado is proud to feature Gayle Rodgers as our member "In the Spotlight." From a junior
high Home Economics teacher in Minneapolis to stay-at-home Mom to owner of a manufacturing
company (bookbindery) for 20 years, and now coach, trainer and speaker, Gayle's life has been
fun, hectic, and varied. Gayle, her husband and 8-month old son moved to Colorado to ski in
1977. They took a 10-day ski trip to Snowmass mid 70’s and then went back to Minneapolis and
looked at their ski hill. Not long after that they moved. They love living in Denver and on
weekends visiting their condo at Keystone.

Gayle is a Life Coach, a certified Dream Coach® Group Leader (Marcia Wieder), certified in NLP,
and is a Trained True Purpose Coach, Speaker, and Trainer. She specializes in teaching teens her
L.O.V.E to Choose 5-step system for making great decisions. Her Dream Book 10-step program
supports that focus by providing teens (or adults) with the necessary skills and tools to achieve
their dreams.

We have opportunities for you to be of service in the following areas:

Facilitator for one of our monthly Special Interest Groups (SIG) - Facilitating a SIG

program that you can use in other areas of your coaching practice.
ICF Colorado Blogger - Would you like to learn more about blogging in a safe
environment and would enjoy sharing emerging trends with the coaching community? Then
this has your name written all over it.
Manage ICF Colorado Twitter - Are you a tweeting fanatic and have a few extra minutes
each week to tweet out to coaches and the community about our ICF Colorado meetings,
      events, and programs?
Manage ICF Colorado Facebook - Post our events, speakers, coaching tips, etc. It's a
      great way to network.
Greeters - Remember how you felt when you came to your first ICF Colorado meeting?
Help our new guests feel welcome and at home.
Channel 9 News Health Fair - Help us be a part of this great program so that we can be

Identify teleseminar opportunities for ICF Colorado members - Is there a topic you
think the members would get value from or is there a speaker who you know of who would
"WOW" our members? Jump in and be a part of this initiative!
Follow up with ICF Colorado speakers - Assist them with accommodations,
transporation, special needs, etc. - This will allow you to meet some "Movers and Shakers"
      in the world of coaching!

to ensure we're meeting the needs of our members.

and determine what's current/beneficial to coaches and what's outdated.

The ICF Colorado Board of Directors

Membership in the ICF Colorado

For our former members who have allowed their memberships to lapse, we invite you to renew
right away and re-commit to being a part of our community of coaches. Our educational
programming has been very powerful over the last year, and we’ve had some wonderful meetings.
Renewing your membership will also give you the opportunity to renew the friendships you made
while a member.

For those of you who aren’t yet members, we invite you to tour our website, check out the past
and upcoming programs and call if you have questions. We invite you to join our chapter and
become engaged in the work of learning together and creating a strong community.

So why should coaches and prospective coaches want to join ICF Colorado? As a member of ICF
Colorado, they will join a wonderful community of individuals committed to making a difference in
the lives of their clients, connecting with other coaches, developing themselves, and contributing
to the profession of coaching. Our community includes brand new coaches as well as very
experienced and highly successful ones. We also welcome those who are exploring coaching as a
profession and who have not yet started the process of becoming a coach.

There are many benefits to membership in ICF Colorado starting with being able to attend the
monthly meetings at no additional cost. The educational presentations during our meetings are
delivered by highly successful coaches with special expertise and are but one of the resources
available for helping our members develop and refine their coaching skills and build their
businesses. As a member, one has the opportunity to network with other coaches and participate
in one of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The SIGs are led by experienced coaches, giving
participants the opportunity to learn and engage in lively discussion. Two of the three SIGs are
held immediately prior to the meeting, and we encourage everyone to check them out. In addition
to the SIGs and monthly educational programming, we also have other programs and events such
as workshops and tele-classes, with reduced rates for members.

When highly experienced coaches, coaches building their practices, and those who are just getting
started join together to support their chosen field, magic happens. So please help us grow our
membership and be part of the magic we can create.

It’s very easy to join by going to the ICF Colorado website and filling out the form:
http://sn.im/joinicfcolorado.

Thank You!

Resource Library General Meeting Information Contact Us Message from Reuel Hunt President, ICF Colorado New beginnings: connection – community – contribution . . . We are excited about the possibilities for ICF-CO in 2013, and I am proud to be taking over the helm from Marty Vondrell as the new President. Marty will be working on a new coaching opportunity in Seattle. We will certainly miss him and wish him all the best. The new Board met in December and created a new purpose statement; a statement answering the question, "We exist for the sake of what?" We support the growth and sustainability of the coaching community in our area by connecting our members with valuable resources such that they thrive personally and professionally. From that purpose statement, we selected three key areas of focus for the next six months: Board Agreements, Values, Norms • To build a solid, cohesive and professional leadership team equipped to support a thriving
  • 2. coaching community Community Building in General Meetings • To foster a stronger sense of member engagement and belonging Member Retention and Satisfaction • To meet the needs of a diverse community of coaches and build a stronger chapter To build a thriving coaching community, we need your help! I invite you to join us in taking our organization to a new level of quality and growth by contributing your skills and talents as a volunteer or Board member and by engaging in your local coaching community. With three of our Board members moving on to other ventures, we now have several openings that need to be filled as soon as possible: Membership, Secretary and President-Elect. Please go to our website to review the position descriptions. Let us know of your interest by emailing info@icfcolorado.org. One of our Board members will contact you with application details. My personal vision for ICF CO and for the Board is that through connection, community and contribution, we build a thriving, vibrant supportive membership and Board that brings our purpose statement to fruition. We are excited to kick off 2013 with Michael Stratford, "Provoke, Evoke, or Go Home" on January 10th. Yes, we are holding in balance the full spectrum of all the coaching profession elements, providing you the coaching community and the resources needed to thrive both personally and professionally. Wishing you Joy, Peace and Prosperity in the New Year, Reuel J. • 3. Topic: "Provoke, Evoke or Go Home!" *CCEU: 1 in Core Competencies; 1 in Resource Development Presencing transformation is NOT an option! In this vibrant talk . . . leaders, speakers, coaches and others of influence are challenged to be something more - to be the embodiment of a presence that is dedicated to: * Provoking meaningful and lasting change in others instead of just helping them get more stuff done. * Evoking what is more powerful, congruent and fulfilling from people. * Passionately engaging in the process of transformation instead of the ordinary transactional focus of how to get goals accomplished and acquire more things. Attendees will learn: 1. The context of effective provocation 2. Three of the key areas to provoke 3. Three of the key areas to evoke About Michael Stratford Michael is a champion of uniqueness. It’s been said he’s a blend of Robin Williams, and the Dalai lama. But that doesn’t include the business savvy, range and depth of experience garnered from 56 different jobs, his clearly provocative nature, and the mastery born of 2 decades of coaching clients from rock bands to Fortune 500 company execs and their teams. And while doing all of that, he has trained over 6,000 coaches and authored 4 books on coaching including Masterful Questions and The Game of Coaching. He’s even had time to run the NYC and San Diego Marathons, act on Broadway and Soap operas, and marry an Aussie who is his A to Z and then some. In field of Executive Coaching, he has earned a reputation for helping others achieve a level of excellence in communication, leadership, and team performance. Michael has coached clients in diverse industries such as banking, IT, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and even the gaming world. Among others, he’s focused on Leadership Development and teamwork at Cisco Systems, Ford, GM, GE, the Whirlpool Corporation, Wells Fargo, Healthcare Services IT, Abbott Labs and online gaming company, Blizzard Entertainment. Michael specializes in the Art of Provocative Inquiry for Leadership Development. His creativity, love of language, and sensing acuity have helped his clients align with emerging trends and personally congruent solutions. Michael has a light and playful approach. Yet through his keen insights, masterful coaching and training, he quickly reveals a depth of knowledge and understanding on a wide range of human and organizational issues.
