The document summarizes the achievements of the Harmonized Support for Agricultural Development in Iraq (HSAD) program. Key achievements include:
- Producing over 17,400 metric tons of certified wheat seed, providing seeds for over 100,000 hectares of land.
- Training over 1,420 participants, including government officials and farmers, on topics like integrated pest management, conservation agriculture, seed production, and agricultural extension services.
- Strengthening value chains for wheat and dates through activities such as introducing new varieties, implementing integrated pest management for date palms, upgrading seed infrastructure, and supporting tissue culture laboratories.
- Developing policies and tools to support the agriculture sector through a seed law, value chain

From the Iraqi Government
Good morning to all and thank you for attending this final stakeholders meeting.
I would like to renew our thanks to Dr. Mahdi El Kaisey and the Ministry of Agriculture for its continuous support throughout the implementation of the project.
A note of thanks goes to USAID who made this project possible with its funds. We are grateful to the USAID team here in Iraq (The Mission Director Sarah Ann Lynch, Jeff Levine, Eric Milstrey, William Sedlak, Mohammad Elwadie, Iman Shayeb and recently Rebecca Jones) for their close follow-up and backstopping.
Thanks also to our implementing partners: the consortium of 4 US Universities (Florida, Texas AM, California Davis and Illinois Urbana Ch.) who supported the project in the extension activities and our sister organization IFPRI who assisted the project on issues related to policy.
I will now briefly give a brief overview of what the project was able to achieve during its 20 month lifetime.
The main goals of HSAD are:

COMING TO THE SPECIFIC ACTIVTIES:
CONCERNING THE IMPROVED WHEAT SEEDS,
OVER 17,400 TONS OF CERTIFIED SEED HAVE BEEN PRODUCED. THESE WILL SERVE OVE 100,000 HA DURING THE NEXT SEASON
3147 METRIC TONS OF WHEAT SEEDS HAVE BEEN CLEANED AND UPGRADED USING MOBILE SEED CLEANERS THAT WHERE MADE OPERATIONAL BY HSAD.
THIS ACTIVITY INVOLVED 315 FARMERS OF THE IKR
VARIETY EVALUATION TRIALS WERE CARRIED OUT BOTH ON DURUM AND BREAD WHEAT (THE GENOTYPES WERE PROVIDED BY ICARDA AND THE NARS)
Here we can see the achievements in the activities related to the Integrated Pest Management in Date Palm orchards:

HERE ARE SOME STATISTICS RELATED TO THE TRAINING ACTIVITIES AND WORKSHOPS ORGANIZED IN THE FRAMEWORK OF HSAD:
A TOTAL OF 2,193 PEOPLE RECEIVED SOME KIND OF TRAINING
THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS PER COURSE WAS BETWEEN 20 AND 30 PERSONS
THE FINAL CHART SHOWS THE GENDER DISTRIBUTION IN THE COURSES WITH AN AVERAGE PRESENCE OF WOMEN OF AROUND 20%
ONCE AGAIN I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE IRAQI MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE THAT PROVIDED HSAD BOTH WITH THE INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT AND WITH THE PERSONNEL AND FACILITIES TO CARRY OUT THE DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES.
