2. The difference between fly fishing and
regular fishing is that you use a fly rod.
The rod is usually longer and the line
usually floats
3. • This weight of the floating line allows the fly
fisherman to cast the line out instead of the
lure on the end.
4. • The reason for this is that most of
the time, the lure (fly) is very small
and does not weigh much. It would
be hard to cast.
5. There is a an art to casting a fly rod. The perfect
cast allows an angler to place a very tiny fly
(lure) on the water very gingerly.
6. • The angler then moves the line in a slow
rhythm to make the fly look like an injured bug
on the water. That drives the fish wild.
7. Many people fish for trout with fly rods but they
can be used for all types of fish.
8. I have been fly fishing for many years and I am
actually an instructor. I teach people how to fly
fish when they come to my job in Alaska.
I probably have spent way too much money on
fly rods but it is what I like to do.
