else’s work, words, or thoughts and using them as
your own without giving credit to that particular
person.

from the web
Taking someone’s own words,
thoughts without crediting them for it
3. CONSEQUENCES?
• If you are caught plagiarizing as a student,
employee, etc. you may face the consequences of
being:
• Expelled/Suspended
• Fired
• Fined
• Or even jailed depending on
exactly what you did.
4. WHO IS LLOYD BROWN?
• Lloyd Brown was an editorial page editor for the
Florida Times Union Jacksonville paper and had
been with the staff for over 42 years.
• “He had responsibility for some 12,000 editorials as
well as oversight of the letters page and the
opposite editorial page” said Carl Cannon,

5. WHAT HAPPENED?
• Lloyd Brown was later reported to have been
plagiarizing some of his editorial pages.
• He was found with at least three instances of
plagiarism that can be dated back to the year of
1996.

6. WHERE IS HE NOW?
• According to Plagiarism Today, Lloyd Brown was
rehired by governor Jeb Bush of Florida, as a writer
once more but found that he could not take the
job so as though it would cause to much problem
and chaos. Still he continues to
write, but not for as big of
publications as he first started out
before he was caught plagiarizing.
7. THE PROBLEM
• The problem with plagiarism, even today, is that
people all over the world are still doing it.
• It is so much easier for people to search the internet
and find the information that they need in a matter
of minutes.
• Because it is so much more simpler to copy and
paste from the internet, people don’t want to take
the time and effort to making and creating their
own writing that contains their own thoughts and
originality.
