films, pictures, art equipment, sports equipment or decoration or
furniture for the classroom.
• “Adopt” selected vulnerable children and collect funds to support
them

26. Key problems & solution – Nutrition intervention project
CSR project partnering with Poverty Alleviation office Yunnan and Humana People to People (NGO)
Current situation & key problem
No breakfast offered to boarding students due to lack of financial resources
Project goals
 Reduce incidence of malnutrition among students
 Increase knowledge on nutrition, health and hygiene among parents, children and teachers
 Improve children’s ability to learn by improving the nutritional value of their food
 Change food habits to better meet the needs of children in growth among the families of the students
 Change hygiene habits in the communities to prevent common diseases caused by bad hygiene.
 Increase parents knowledge about child development
 Establish a sustainable source of protein and omega 3 at the school
 Introduce breakfast as a permanent offer to all students
“ When we had lunch together with the children, the food was much better than we heard and expected. I
asked them whether they were having the same meals in normal days like today. They just nodded. Until
later I found they gathered all the meat together in a plastic bag, and I kept questioning. They told me in a
low voice that they wanted to save some meat for the dinner.”
