Pardubice is a city in the eastern Czech Republic located at the confluence of the Labe and Chrudimka rivers. It has a population of around 90,000 people. Pardubice is well known for the difficult Velká Pardubická Steeplechase horse race that has been held since 1874 over 6,900 meters and 31 hurdles. The city's crest features a half horse, representing a legend where a man saved his horse that was cut in half. Pardubice is also known for its traditional gingerbread and as the home of the HC Dynamo Pardubice ice hockey team.
