2. The advertisements only image
is the album cover. We will
probably do this with our poster
as we want it to stay in the
audiences minds. Plus we don’t
want them getting confused
with any other image on the
poster, so we will keep our
poster quite simple so that it is
easily read and identified.
The colours of the poster is very
dark, with the majority of the
poster being black. This is
representative of the theme of
the artists songs and also the
title of the artist. Its put a
morbid twist to an otherwise
necessary feature.
A key quote on most CD
advertisements is, “Includes the
singles…” This is necessary on
our poster as it is now being
recognised by a wider audience
who may not know too much
about the artist, but may
recognise a popular song. This
tag expands the target audience
from just the artists fans, to
anyone interested in pop songs.
The title of the album is the
largest text on the poster as it
is the most important thing the
viewer is going to have to
remember. Every aspect and
decision made on this poster is
made to ensure the purchase
of the album, so by making it
simple it makes it easy to find
in shops. We will obviously be
using the same techniques on
out advertisement as it is a
sure way to get people to buy
your product.
3. This advertisement breaks the
convention set by the other two
posters; having the main image being
that of the artist instead of the album
cover. This image gives an indication
to the genre of the album. The artist
is shown in a suit with an old microphone, although the music isn't old
fashioned it does have a violent
theme which could be associated with
gangs and criminals. This is also
reflected in the colour scheme with
red (the colour of blood and danger)
being the only colour on the page.
Although it says a lot about the music,
I think having the main image as the
album cover would be a more reliable
look to get people to buy the album,
so we will do that.
The album cover is only shown in the
corner, quite small in contrast with
the rest of the poster. It isn't the first
thing you look to when viewing the
poster, which is an opposite effect to
what we’re looking for. For that
reason, we will have our album cover
much larger and more central.
For the artists name, the text font is
bold and easily read. The gaps
between the letters are wide enough
to read clearly and quickly. The red
font also makes the artists name
stand out against the black
background. While the font of the
album name isn't as easily read. The
colour makes it stand out enough, but
the text seems to be too close
together to read quickly. Altogether it
is an effective poster and font, but
just to make sure we will probably
make our text clearer so that there
can be no confusion when finding the
album to buy.
A good feature on this poster is the
star ratings from different companies.
Naming well known music reviewers
and their high rating of the album is
an effective way to get the album
seen and sought after from the
audience. We will most likely include
either a star rating or a quote from a
review to encourage the viewer to
buy the album.
