Technical Workshop on
Seismic Exploration For
Geologists & Engineers
Instructor of the workshop
Geophysicist Hesham Helmy
Ahmed
A five-days training course
Course Description
The overall objective is to introduce Exploration Geologists
,Junior Geophysicists and Reservoir Engineers to the key
concepts and principles that form the technical basis for the
different geophysical techniques and geologic structures ,and
value added seismic applications in exploration, field appraisal,
and reservoir management. For most of us, teamwork is a part
of everyday life. Whether it's at home, in the community, or at
work, we are often expected to be a functional part of a high
performing team. This course explains the role of the
Exploration Team in an Oil company, defining the role of each
of its team members, how they interact, and what specialised
data each role requires to be an effective team member.
Emphasis will be on the role of the Geophysicist in the tem
,with explanations of different Geophysical tools ,and wide
explanation of Seismic tool.
Emphasising synergistic team work, participants will after this
training course be able to
Explain the basic principles of seismic wave propagation
Explain the principles of the seismic system
Understand theoretical principles ,different marine and
land seismic DATA ACQUISITON.
Understand theoretical principles ,different marine and
land seismic DATA PROCESSING .
Understand theoretical principles ,different marine and
land seismic data Interpretation (through exercises)
Well seismic data (types ,and their benefits) with
exercises ,and illustrations.
Describe the principles and role of special seismic
techniques such as Seismic
Attributes ,Inversion ,Tomography AVO and Shear
waves.
Describe seismic rock properties
The course design allows ready adaptation to shorter or longer
versions and direct linkage to advanced treatment of specific
topics.
Audience
Geologists ,Junior Geophysicists and Reservoir Engineers.
