3. History
”Enriching lives through partnership designed to strengthen our
community’s capacity to support recovery and resiliency"
O The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health is the largest county-
operated mental health department in the United States, directly operating
programs in more than 85 sites, and providing services via contract program
and DMH staff at approximately 300 sites co-located with other County
departments, schools, courts and other organizations. Each year, the County
contracts with more than 1,000 organizations and individual practitioners to
provide a variety of mental health-related services.
O The DMH is committed to serving and improving the lives of those individual in
our community whom are diagnosed with mental illness. Making a difference
in the lives of individuals and their families is at the very heart of the
DMH. Partnering with clients, families and our communities to create
opportunities for Hope, Wellness and Recovery is our vision and our mission.
O Making a difference begins with each Los Angeles County resident. We ask
that you join us in making a difference by ending Mental Health stigma and
discrimination in our communities and the workplace by encouraging those in
need of medical care to seek immediate mental health care.
4. Why We Chose This
O All four members of the group have learned how to provide and
successfully practice our employer’s motto of “enriching lives through
effective and caring services”
O As public servants we understand the importance of helping less fortune
members of the community. Especially the many that happen to have
mental health issues
O The Department of Mental Health requires the same type of effective and
caring service for their clients which is why we choose their website.
O A second reason for choosing this website is because it would be easier
for people with potential mental health issues to have a simpler straight
to the point type website to navigate when searching for information

Breaking down stigma
