• Facebook has the option to open group pages on a variety of events, chat groups,
interaction pages. One particular group I choose to research is Called 361 MOM
Chat.
361 Mom Chat was developed in 2015 by a local mother of the corpus Christi area.
According to the 361 Mom Chat information page, “This is a group where moms can get and
give parenting and relationship advice, share pictures, and just talk about their children,
families, and anything pertaining to mother hood.”
361 Mom chat is considered a closed group where approval is required to be a member of
this group. I have learned about this particular web page by friends that are currently
members and talk very highly of this page.
7. 361 MOM CHAT APPROVAL
• As I started my research on this local mother page, I wondered if I would be
accepted due to the fact that I don’t have children.
• I simply sent a request to join this group and shortly after I was a member.
• During observations and discussion I see that the community and members of this
group are very involved and base this page on motherhood and family life.
• This page is structed like any facebook page. It includes photos, rules, status
updates, open communication and structure.
8. 361 MOM CHAT FEATURES AND STRUCTURE

motherhood, formula for babies, diaper info, recommendations for illness etc.
• Many ask questions and the members in the group comment with personal
experience, recommendations, advice and even creat events among group members.
10. RESEARCH FINDING
Community
All members seemed to have very good intentions. By
communication and willingness to be helpful to others. Many would
comment of questions other members asked and they would
automatically start a group discussion about the subject. Many
members were very supportive and very helpful to new mothers as
well as curious parents. This page seemed very structured, organized
and an overall good environment. Photos were posted as photo
contest among the local mothers, surveys on baby products took
place, friendships were in the making and the environment seemed
very supportive and positive.
11. HOW IS 361 MOM CHAT DIFFERENT THEN
OTHER MOTHERHOOD COMMUNITIES
• 361 mom chat offers local support. Recommended doctors and pediatrians, local
family activity suggestions, coupon and sales in our local markets for baby products,
discussion on medical assistance etc.
• Local events – 361 mom chat have monthly meetings that give the members an
opportunity to meet face to face, but to also plan play dates for their children at our
local parks, and family friendly facilities.
• Friendship Building – Many of the members posted on the page frequently and it
seemed many of them grew close bonds with one another. Which made the
environement extra confortable.
12. OBSERVATIONS AND NOTES
• Working with children in my career field I found that I was comfortable that I would be able to get feedback on issues I
found myself having. Such as strategies for tantrums, bottle brands, illness medication etc.
• I emailed the admin of the group and discussed the purpose of this group and what got it started.
• Admin: I started this group because I felt it was a great idea for local moms to have a place where they can vent, talk and receive
advice from other moms and members. So I created to group to help support our local parents.
• Me: What is the purpose of this page?
• Admin: to build support for other moms in the area. We all have questions, concerns and curiosity. I thought it would be a good
idea to find away to help other moms in the city and make connections in the process.
