OBJECTIVE To investigate the extent of use of IT by  New Zealand healthcare organizations  for knowledge sharing
Background Knowledge Management (KM)
Researchers Significance of this study an exploratory study that opens up an avenue to investigate further the factors that influence the success of knowledge management systems (KMS) in healthcare  Practitioners The idea of how knowledge sharing      is being practised in healthcare organisations Improve the implementation of certain      technologies that were found more likely to improve knowledge sharing Plan the budget or strategies to improve knowledge sharing

Information Technology are just enablers, it’s people  who actually share knowledge
“Healthcare provision is a knowledge-intensive business, and the consequences of an organisation failing to make best use of the knowledge assets at its disposal can be severe” (Lelic, 2002)

  1. Knowledge management has been the topic of interest in healthcare sector. Recently, KM has also embarked into New Zealand healthcare and one of the issues discussed in Health Care and Informatics Review Online Journal (Day and Orr, 2008). This is to show that knowledge sharing has been recognised to be important for healthcare to harness and reuse their knowledge constructively. The advancement of IT in healthcare New Zealand provides the opportunity for KM in healthcare New Zealand. One of efforts of healthcare to maximise the benefits gained from use their IT. This study gathers information how the IT was being used for knowledge sharing in healthcare.This study is also a preliminary study for my main research “Determinants of KMS success in healthcare”.
