Motivated by challenge, a Civil Engineer with 23 years of experience in matters of construction, e-procurement,
operations, personnel management, leadership, negotiations and logistics with the Indian Army, looking to leverage my
skill-set in the Education/ Admin domain, something I have a penchant for. A strong believer in the importance of

Selected from among many to represent the Regiment at the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Angola,
Africa to assist in infrastructure development works.
Entrusted with the responsibility of constructing roads in the most rugged terrains of India with an annual turn-over
of 25 Cr in 2003. Long term perspective planning, Contract formulation/management and Financial Management
were key focus areas.
Commanded a Unit comprising a workforce of 725 subordinates and 38,000 labour, in militant-infested districts
of J&K with a turn-over of 175 Cr involving double lane road/infrastructure development work. Awarded the Best
Task Force Trophy two times in a row for excelling and was adjudged Second best in the entire Border Roads
Organization (BRO) the second year. Focus on Financial Planning, e-procurement, Contract formulation &
monitoring, arbitration & court cases. E-procurement was
Selected to tenet a very sensitive appointment at the Headquarters of BRO, where communication and relationships
were the key to getting the best from people and keeping projects on track. Organizing large-scale events attended
by senior government officials was an important task apart from dealing with the Ministries. House-keeping and e-
procurement was a challenging responsibility with close to 1000 individuals and a multi-storey office complex to
be looked after.
Was handling infrastructure development worth 175 Cr for the Army in insurgency prone areas prior to retirement.

2015- Aug16 Commander Works Engineer As Director of an Infrastructure Development Company, was in-charge
of infrastructure development in strategic insurgency prone localities. The work involved creation of assets
in real time under trying circumstances with a great deal of fore-thought and planning. Formulation and
supervision of Contracts, Arbitration and Court cases including Material management, E-procurement,
Management of Contractors and Quality Control as per IS specs and to progress works was of utmost
importance.
2. 2014-2015 Project Director, MAP Entrusted with the job of managing a 200 Cr Project, single handedly, as an officer
rep of Director General MAP, involving construction of 1,016 Dwelling Units, both high and low rise. The
tasks also involved resource and man-management. Financial and Contract Management was an important
aspect that needed close monitoring apart from Quality assurance as per IS Codes and Green building norms.
2011-2014 Director Organization, Headquarters, Border Roads Organization Was a Principal Staff Officer to the
Director General, Border Roads Organization. During the stint was the pivot to all HR issues including
Policy formulation & implementation and matters that were highly confidential and sensitive. The job
involved a high level of maturity and tact in a heterogeneous organization. A great deal of man, resource and
facilities management was required since over 100 officers and 800 subordinates were to be looked after,
apart from interaction with Ministries and Senior Civil servants. Organizing large-scale events for high-
ranking government officials and e-procurement was a challenging task.
2009-2011 Commander, Border Roads Task Force Was responsible for the construction and maintenance of 700 km
of roads, including the National Highway 1A (the lifeline of J&K) &1B, in the remote and sensitive regions
of Doda and Kishtwar. 150-170 Cr of work was executed in a financial year which involved ensuring
Quality control as per MoRTH & IRC specs. Led a team comprising 25 Officers, 700 Junior Engineers &
subordinate staff and 38,000 casual paid labour. During the two-year stint achieved 80 km Formation
work,300 km Surfacing work, 275 km of Resurfacing work, 160 lacs of Permanent works and 125 m
of Major Bridge work. Recognition for good work came in the form of being adjudged the Best Task
Force among three, for both years of my Command and once overall second in the entire BRO. E-
procurement, Land acquisition, forest clearances and preparation of DPRs & AEs and getting approvals from
concerned Financial Advisors was a challenging task.
2005-2009 Officer Commanding, Road Construction Company, Border Roads Organization Deployed in one of
the most remote and rugged locations of Arunachal Pradesh. Was responsible, with a team of approximately
200 uniformed men and 1,500 labour to cut fresh roads and making them pliable for single lane traffic
with a 25 Cr annual turn-over. During the tenure was involved in Man/Resources Management, Contract
formulation/Management. Tasks involved very large scale co-ordination between different agencies spread
over locations ranging upto 1000 km. A very high degree of forethought and planning was required, more so
because resources had to be heli-lifted to air maintained detachments with limited air-effort.
2003-2005 Squadron Commander (Team Leader) As Squadron Commander of a squadron, of a Premier Engineer
Regiment, learnt the art of leading a Composite Assault Squadron in battlefield conditions where stress was
given to innovations and out of the box ideas to accomplish given targets. Was awarded the Army
Commanders' Commendation Award for an innovation that cut down on time and effort, an important
ingredient in battle. Responsibilities included construction of roads and tracks of Class 5 specification and
bridges for movement of Class 70 traffic in sandy, hilly and riverine terrain.
2002-2003 Adjutant of an Assam Rifles Battalion Was entrusted the portfolio of Principal Staff Officer to the CEO
based on my reputation of being loyal, disciplined and sincere. Was also the Engineer Advisor to the CEO.
2000-2002 Company Commander of an Infantry Company in an Assam Rifles Battalion Was deployed in one of
the remotest parts of the country. As a middle level manager, responsibilities involved execution of building
works projects apart from leading a team of approximately 100 men in insurgency prone areas of the North
East.
1998-2000 Officer Commanding of an Independent Specialized Bridging Unit Given command of an independent
Heavy Mobile Bridging Detachment comprising of state of art imported bridging equipment. Such bridges
were required for seamless movement of Class 50 vehicles through all kinds of terrain.
1997-1998 Adjutant of an Engineer Regiment As Principal Staff Officer to the CEO was among the few officers of
the Regiment to be selected as an Adjutant, whose sole purpose is to ensure enforcement of the directions of
the Commanding Officer and to ensure co-ordination between sub-units.
3. 1996-1997 Special Task Force Manager Officer in-charge of construction & demining operations as part of a United
Nations Peace Keeping Force in Angola, Africa. Was the only officer selected among many to lead the
team from the Regiment, in strife-torn Angola. A lot of re-habilitation works including repair& maintenance
of Air-strips/Airfields/buildings, upgradation of roads/tracks, buildings and bridges was carried out.
1993-1996 Company Second-in-Command of a squadron of a Premier Specialist Engineer Regiment The
responsibilities were construction of roads/tracks and bridges of Class 70 specs. At the end of this tenure
became effective in demining operations and launching state-of-art assault bridges and equipment for plying
of Class 70 vehicles.
1992-1993 Trainee, IMA Dehradun As a trainee went through a rigorous training schedule mastering the art of time
management, apart from honing skills in military leadership techniques.
1991-1992 Assistant Engineer in a 60 Cr Paper Mill Project of Varinder Agro Chemicals Pvt. Ltd, on graduating from
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. Responsibilities included supervision of works and ensuring
quality as per Contract provisions and specs laid down as per IS codes where design was based on pile
foundations.
