GFA Hosts Successful Camp Session
Tuesday 16th
February, 2016, St.George’s
The Grenada Football Association is continuing to make a tremendous investment
in ensuring that the National team is prepared for the CONCACAF U17 Women’s
Championship by facilitating camp sessions every weekend.
Last weekend, apart from tactical sessions and practice matches, the girls and
technical staff were treated to two special sessions to step up preparations.
Team physician Dr. Sonia Johnson facilitated a session on nutrition and injury
prevention and management which are top priorities for the Association. One of the
main talking points for injury management was the RICE method which involves
rest, ice, compression and elevation.
The girls listened keenly and were able to answer questions posed by Dr. Johnson.
The GFA’s Communications Officer Ria Murray also facilitated a session on how
to engage the media and be confident in front of the camera. The topics covered
included being prepared, proper posture and thinking on one’s feet.
While the girls were shy at first they quickly began gaining confidence as they had
to stand in front of their team mates and answer questions. More sessions are
planned in an effort to prepare the girls not only for the CONCACAF U17
Women’s Championship (March 3rd-13th) but also future opportunities.
