CLIENT QUOTE;- “We contacted DCL Engineering for advice on refurbishing an electric
rotor with a 0.25mm bend in the shaft. It was decided that they would HVOF the full length
of the journal and machine out the bend. DCL were very accommodating in meeting our
requirements to turn the job round urgently. We have no hesitation in recommending DCL”.
This rotor arrived at our workshop with
an unknown amount of bend in it. It
was set up in a lathe and checked for
run-out. A steady band was cut inboard
of the bend and a new centre
machined.
The bent journal was then arc sprayed
along its full length, including the
keyway.
With the new centre running true to the
shaft inboard of the bend, it is possible
to metal spray and machine out any
bend.
The journal to the right has been HVOF
and finished on three positions with 420
stst metal spray and finish ground,
including the keyway journal.
