Editor's Notes
In 2010, DWP announced that ESF would be delivered primarily through its Work Programme Framework which resulted in large contracts being awarded to prime providers. This limited the potential for local providers to be involved. When the UK Government abolished Regional Government Offices, Regional ESF Committees were also abolished. This dramatically reduced the ability of local authorities & local providers to influence the strategic developments of ESF delivery in the UK.
