Introduction

Introduction

Giants of Reverb –
in a Bonsai format

Never judge a book by its cover – or a guitar
effect pedal by its size.

TC Electronic is synonymous with some of
the best sounding reverbs out there.

Hall of Fame Mini Reverb was designed by musicians for musicians to give you an amazing reverb pedal that takes up virtually no space on
your pedal board.

Think of a song with reverb on it that you have

us!

Add in the TonePrint concept – and you will find
that the possibilities are virtually endless:
– Replace the classy, well-known TC Electronic
Hall reverb that comes with your Hall of Fame

–	Download your favorite artist’s TonePrint –
and discover the true potential of a top-notch
effect fine-tuned by a top artist.
– And this is just the beginning. Because with
TC Electronic’s TonePrint Editor, you will be

anything else in the world.

TC Electronic has built a very impressive library
of first-class reverb algorithms – and with Hall
of Fame Mini Reverb, we put they key to this reverb kingdom in your hands. All you need is an

of Fame an instant classic – and you can use
every TonePrint that was created for the original

Choosing the right setup

Choosing the right setup

You have a reverb effect and a volume pedal. Great! Now – which setup is right for you? It really depends on how you intend to shape your sound. A reverb can
be used in different ways to create all sorts of inspiring sounds – but here are the most widely used ones that add the most realistically sounding reverb possible
to your setup.

“I want to be able to turn down the volume of everything!”
Cool. Then you will want to place your volume pedal after Hall of Fame Mini Reverb in the signal path.

“I want my reverb to trail out when I use my volume pedal!”
Awesome! In that case, place your volume pedal before Hall of Fame Mini Reverb in the signal path so the pedal can work its magic.

Inputs, outputs, controls

Inputs, outputs, controls
1. Power input

4. Footswitch
Tap the footswitch to turn the pedal on or off, just
like with any other pedal on your board.

6

The power input of this pedal is a standard
5.5 / 2.1 mm DC plug (centre = negative). To power up your pedal, connect a power supply to its
power input socket. Hall of Fame Mini Reverb
requires a 9V power supply providing 100  mA
or more (not supplied). To minimize hum, use a
power supply with isolated outputs.

1

2. Audio input

5

The audio input of this pedal is a standard ¼”
jack (mono/TS). Connect your guitar to the audio
input of your pedal using a regular ¼” mono cable. For other setups, see the “Setup examples”
section of this manual.

3

2

3. Audio output
The audio output of this pedal is a standard ¼”
jack (mono/TS). Connect the audio output of
your pedal to the next device in the signal chain
using a regular ¼” mono cable. For other setups,
see the “Setup examples” section of this manual.

4

5. REVERB knob – Effect
level control
Use the Reverb knob to control the level of the
reverb. The amount of reverb that you can add
with this knob will vary depending on the TonePrint that you have loaded into Hall of Fame Mini.
! The direct, unprocessed signal is always
passed at the original level (unity gain). Only
the level of the reverb is changed when turning
the REVERB knob.
! Please note that you can control parameters
other than reverb level to the REVERB knob
by using TC’s TonePrint Editor. The parameter
assigned to the Reverb knob is stored as part
of the TonePrint.

6. USB port
Use this standard Mini-B USB port to connect
your pedal to a computer. This will allow you to
load new TonePrints into the pedal or create your
own using TC’s TonePrint Editor – it’s 100 % free
of charge! If there should be firmware updates
for this device, they can also be installed using
this port.

Using TonePrints

Using TonePrints
When you look at your Hall of
Fame Mini Reverb pedal, you’ll
only see one knob. However,
that innocuous knob is capable of controlling quite a few
of the effect’s internal parameters.
TC has defined the relationship between the
knob and all the parameters “under the hood”.
But wouldn’t it be cool to have guys like Steve
Stevens, Scott Ian or Paul Gilbert (i.e., some of
the world’s leading guitar players) virtually rewire
your reverb pedal, defining what should happen
behind the scenes – or perhaps even do it yourself?
This is exactly what TonePrint does.
We work with top guitar players who explore
a pedal’s hidden tonal potential, redefining the
controls and creating their personal TonePrints.
TC is making these custom TonePrints available to you. Uploading them to your pedal is really easy, and with the amazing TonePrint Editor
you can even create your own signature pedal
tweaked specifically to your liking.

Transferring TonePrints to the pedal
“So how do I load new TonePrints into my pedal?”
“Use USB, Luke – or beam it.”

Getting started: popular reverb types

Getting started:
popular reverb types
This section of the manual describes some of
the classic reverb types that you download from
TC Electronic’s website to your Hall of Fame Mini
Reverb as described in the “Transferring TonePrints to the pedal” section.
But remember that this is just the start: You can
always create your personal reverb using the free
TonePrint Editor.

Room reverb
The Room reverb simulates a relatively small,
well furnished room. In such a room, many reflections are absorbed by soft materials, and
the sound is reflected and sustained only by
the walls (covered with wallpaper), windows and
maybe some furniture.

Hall reverb
The Hall reverb is a broad yet slightly diffuse reverb. It simulates a large environment but adds a
distinctive acoustic flavor to the source material.
Great discreet reverb for large epic sounds at
longer decay settings but also perfect for genuine ambient sounds at shorter decay settings.

Spring reverb
The Spring reverb has been designed to reproduce the sound of the old spring reverbs, such
as the ones used in vintage guitar amps.

Plate reverb

Tile reverb

Prior to the digital era, reverb was created either using springs or large metallic plates. A
plate reverb is recognized by its very diffuse and
bright sound and is excellent for guitar when you
search for a significant guitar reverb.

Use Tile reverb if you want that “bathroom” effect, without actually sounding like you’re playing
in your bathroom. Tile simulates the qualities of
a small to medium size tiled room with its many
reflections and at the same time it behaves respectfully towards the original source material.
This is not a soft smooth reverb – this one cuts
through the mix!

Church reverb
Church reverb is a highly diffuse, large reverb
that is recognizable for its emulation of the many
hard surfaces of different shapes found in traditional church rooms. If you are looking for a large
reverb and think the Hall is too clean and subtle
– try Church.

Modulated reverb
Early digital reverbs often sounded sterile and
cold, so engineers used to add a chorus to the
reverb to get a “warmer” sound. The Modulated
reverb goes a step further and allows you to have
different modulation effects on the reverb tail for
even more tonal options. This reverb is really noticeable and cuts through in live situations.

Ambient reverb
Ambience is a cool, very short reverb that emulates the feeling of environment. Perfect to compensate for that desert-dry feeling of a closemiked cabinet.

Gated reverb
Gated is the classic reverb type typically heard
on snare and kick drums on many Eighties recordings. A gate is used to rather abruptly shorten the reverb decay. Try it out – and stand out
from the common usage of reverbs on guitar.

Lo-Fi reverb
Lo-Fi reverb is a “down and dirty” reverb. Use
Lo-Fi and show your awareness of aiming in the
straight opposite direction of the “smooth”, discrete studio reverb types. Make a statement!

Technical specifications

Here at TC, we have a simple philosophy: When
you are using one of our products, you should
hear something great – and if you don’t, you
shouldn’t hear it at all. This is why this pedal
sports True Bypass. When it is bypassed, it is
really off and has zero influence on your tone, resulting in optimum clarity and zero loss of highend. Also please note that the pedal lets your
dry, unprocessed sound pass without ever converting it to digital – keeping your original tone
pure and without any latency.

Getting support

Frequently asked
questions

“Should I place Hall of Fame Mini
Reverb in front of the amp, or is it better
to run it in the amp’s FX loop?”

“Is it possible to run this TonePrint
pedal in the line-level effects loop
(Send/Return) of a tube amp?”

If your amp has an FX Loop and you use the
distortion of the amp, then you should definitely
place it in the loop. This will give you reverb on
your distorted guitar sound and not distortion on
top of your reverb.

Yes. All TonePrint pedals have a very wide gain
range and are designed to run at both instrument
and line level.
There are few amps such as the CAE OD100,
which are capable of running much hotter than
regular +4 dBu line level signals because of the
way their effect loops are designed – with these
amps, you can basically use the amp send level
as a type of master volume. For those models it
might be possible to get the input to clip – but
for 99% of all amps, the TonePrint pedals will
work just fine.

“Is Hall of Fame Mini Reverb
analog or digital?”
The dry signal of your guitar passes straight
through Hall of Fame Mini Reverb and is in no
way digitized. The wet reverb signal is just added.

The rule of thumb is: Place you reverb as late in
the signal chain as possible. Feel free to check
out the “Setup examples” section of this manual.

“Do the TonePrint pedals have balanced
or unbalanced inputs/outputs?”

“Do I need a special version of TonePrint
Editor for Hall of Fame Mini Reverb?”
You will need version 2.0 or higher of the TonePrint Editor for your Hall of Fame Mini Reverb.
Earlier versions do not support Hall of Fame Mini
Reverb.

Getting support
If you still have questions about the product after reading this manual, please get in touch with
TC Support:
http://tcelectronic.com/support/

Hall of Fame Mini Reverb has unbalanced I/Os,
as do all the other pedals in the TonePrint range.
Use cables with TS jacks (i.e., standard instrument cables).

“Would it be possible to have a
‘Plate Shimmer’ TonePrint for
the Hall of Fame Mini?”
Unfortunately, no. We do not have a shimmer effect neither in the pedal nor as a TonePrint.
The shimmer effect is created by pitching the
wet guitar signal up an octave before sending it
into the reverb engine, and no pitch algorithm is
implemented in the pedal.

Think of a song with reverb on it that you have heard in the last 20 years – and chances are it’s us! Add in the TonePrint concept – and you will find that the possibilities are virtually endless: – Replace the classy, well-known TC Electronic Hall reverb that comes with your Hall of Fame Mini Reverb by something more unconventional – for example, the Eighties’ classic “Gated Reverb” or an old-school spring reverb. – Download your favorite artist’s TonePrint – and discover the true potential of a top-notch effect fine-tuned by a top artist. – And this is just the beginning. • 10. Choosing the right setup Choosing the right setup You have a reverb effect and a volume pedal. Great! Now – which setup is right for you? It really depends on how you intend to shape your sound. A reverb can be used in different ways to create all sorts of inspiring sounds – but here are the most widely used ones that add the most realistically sounding reverb possible to your setup. “I want to be able to turn down the volume of everything!” Cool. Then you will want to place your volume pedal after Hall of Fame Mini Reverb in the signal path. • 12. Inputs, outputs, controls Inputs, outputs, controls 1. Power input 4. Footswitch Tap the footswitch to turn the pedal on or off, just like with any other pedal on your board. 6 The power input of this pedal is a standard 5.5 / 2.1 mm DC plug (centre = negative). To power up your pedal, connect a power supply to its power input socket. Hall of Fame Mini Reverb requires a 9V power supply providing 100  mA or more (not supplied). To minimize hum, use a power supply with isolated outputs. 1 2. Audio input 5 The audio input of this pedal is a standard ¼” jack (mono/TS). Connect your guitar to the audio input of your pedal using a regular ¼” mono cable. For other setups, see the “Setup examples” section of this manual. 3 2 3. Audio output The audio output of this pedal is a standard ¼” jack (mono/TS). Connect the audio output of your pedal to the next device in the signal chain using a regular ¼” mono cable. For other setups, see the “Setup examples” section of this manual. 4 5. REVERB knob – Effect level control Use the Reverb knob to control the level of the reverb. The amount of reverb that you can add with this knob will vary depending on the TonePrint that you have loaded into Hall of Fame Mini. ! The direct, unprocessed signal is always passed at the original level (unity gain). Only the level of the reverb is changed when turning the REVERB knob. ! Please note that you can control parameters other than reverb level to the REVERB knob by using TC’s TonePrint Editor. The parameter assigned to the Reverb knob is stored as part of the TonePrint. 6. USB port Use this standard Mini-B USB port to connect your pedal to a computer. • 13. Using TonePrints Using TonePrints When you look at your Hall of Fame Mini Reverb pedal, you’ll only see one knob. However, that innocuous knob is capable of controlling quite a few of the effect’s internal parameters. TC has defined the relationship between the knob and all the parameters “under the hood”. But wouldn’t it be cool to have guys like Steve Stevens, Scott Ian or Paul Gilbert (i.e., some of the world’s leading guitar players) virtually rewire your reverb pedal, defining what should happen behind the scenes – or perhaps even do it yourself? This is exactly what TonePrint does. We work with top guitar players who explore a pedal’s hidden tonal potential, redefining the controls and creating their personal TonePrints. TC is making these custom TonePrints available to you. Uploading them to your pedal is really easy, and with the amazing TonePrint Editor you can even create your own signature pedal tweaked specifically to your liking. Transferring TonePrints to the pedal “So how do I load new TonePrints into my pedal?” “Use USB, Luke – or beam it.” Transferring TonePrints to the pedal by beaming Transferring TonePrints to the pedal via USB For all you iPhone and Android users out there, we created the TonePrint app. iPhone users can download the app from Apple’s App Store, Android users will find it on Google Play. – Go to tcelectronic.com/toneprint. – Select your TC product in the “TonePrint by product” section. – Download a TonePrint you’d like to try. – Connect your TonePrint pedal and your computer using a Mini-B to Type A USB cable. – Turn your TonePrint pedal on. – Launch the TonePrint application you downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions. • 15. Getting started: popular reverb types Getting started: popular reverb types This section of the manual describes some of the classic reverb types that you download from TC Electronic’s website to your Hall of Fame Mini Reverb as described in the “Transferring TonePrints to the pedal” section. But remember that this is just the start: You can always create your personal reverb using the free TonePrint Editor. Room reverb The Room reverb simulates a relatively small, well furnished room. In such a room, many reflections are absorbed by soft materials, and the sound is reflected and sustained only by the walls (covered with wallpaper), windows and maybe some furniture. Hall reverb The Hall reverb is a broad yet slightly diffuse reverb. It simulates a large environment but adds a distinctive acoustic flavor to the source material. Great discreet reverb for large epic sounds at longer decay settings but also perfect for genuine ambient sounds at shorter decay settings. Spring reverb The Spring reverb has been designed to reproduce the sound of the old spring reverbs, such as the ones used in vintage guitar amps. Plate reverb Tile reverb Prior to the digital era, reverb was created either using springs or large metallic plates. A plate reverb is recognized by its very diffuse and bright sound and is excellent for guitar when you search for a significant guitar reverb. Use Tile reverb if you want that “bathroom” effect, without actually sounding like you’re playing in your bathroom. Tile simulates the qualities of a small to medium size tiled room with its many reflections and at the same time it behaves respectfully towards the original source material. This is not a soft smooth reverb – this one cuts through the mix! Church reverb Church reverb is a highly diffuse, large reverb that is recognizable for its emulation of the many hard surfaces of different shapes found in traditional church rooms. If you are looking for a large reverb and think the Hall is too clean and subtle – try Church. Modulated reverb Early digital reverbs often sounded sterile and cold, so engineers used to add a chorus to the reverb to get a “warmer” sound. The Modulated reverb goes a step further and allows you to have different modulation effects on the reverb tail for even more tonal options. This reverb is really noticeable and cuts through in live situations. Ambient reverb Ambience is a cool, very short reverb that emulates the feeling of environment. Perfect to compensate for that desert-dry feeling of a closemiked cabinet. Gated reverb Gated is the classic reverb type typically heard on snare and kick drums on many Eighties recordings. A gate is used to rather abruptly shorten the reverb decay. Try it out – and stand out from the common usage of reverbs on guitar. Lo-Fi reverb Lo-Fi reverb is a “down and dirty” reverb. Use Lo-Fi and show your awareness of aiming in the straight opposite direction of the “smooth”, discrete studio reverb types. Make a statement! Hall of Fame Mini Reverb Hall of Fame Mini Reverb 13

Links Bypass modes Technical specifications Links Here at TC, we have a simple philosophy: When you are using one of our products, you should hear something great – and if you don’t, you shouldn’t hear it at all. This is why this pedal sports True Bypass. When it is bypassed, it is really off and has zero influence on your tone, resulting in optimum clarity and zero loss of highend. Also please note that the pedal lets your dry, unprocessed sound pass without ever converting it to digital – keeping your original tone pure and without any latency. – Stock default TonePrint: TC Electronic Hall Reverb – Bypass mode: True Bypass – Signal Circuitry: Analog dry-through – Dimensions (Width x Depth x Height): 48 x 48 x 93 mm / 1.9 x 1.9 x 3.7” – Input Connector Type: Standard ¼” jack – mono/TS – Output Connector Type: Standard ¼” jack – mono/TS – Power Input: Standard 9 V DC, centre negative 100 mA (not supplied) – Controls: Reverb Level Knob: FX level (knob assignment can be changed using free TonePrint Editor software) – Switch: FX On/Off – Input Impedance: 1 MΩ – Output Impedance: 100 Ω – The TonePrint concept: tcelectronic.com/toneprint/ – TonePrint apps for your smartphone: tcelectronic.com/toneprint-app/ – TonePrints for Hall of Fame and Hall of Fame Mini Reverb: tcelectronic.com/hall-of-fame-reverb/ toneprints/ – TC TonePrint Editor: tcelectronic.com/toneprint-editor/ – TC TonePrint Editor manual (English): tcelectronic.com/toneprint-editor/support/ Due to continuous development, these specifications are subject to change without notice. • 17. Getting support Frequently asked questions “Should I place Hall of Fame Mini Reverb in front of the amp, or is it better to run it in the amp’s FX loop?” “Is it possible to run this TonePrint pedal in the line-level effects loop (Send/Return) of a tube amp?” If your amp has an FX Loop and you use the distortion of the amp, then you should definitely place it in the loop. This will give you reverb on your distorted guitar sound and not distortion on top of your reverb. Yes. All TonePrint pedals have a very wide gain range and are designed to run at both instrument and line level. There are few amps such as the CAE OD100, which are capable of running much hotter than regular +4 dBu line level signals because of the way their effect loops are designed – with these amps, you can basically use the amp send level as a type of master volume. For those models it might be possible to get the input to clip – but for 99% of all amps, the TonePrint pedals will work just fine. “Is Hall of Fame Mini Reverb analog or digital?” The dry signal of your guitar passes straight through Hall of Fame Mini Reverb and is in no way digitized. The wet reverb signal is just added. The rule of thumb is: Place you reverb as late in the signal chain as possible. Feel free to check out the “Setup examples” section of this manual. “Do the TonePrint pedals have balanced or unbalanced inputs/outputs?” “Do I need a special version of TonePrint Editor for Hall of Fame Mini Reverb?” You will need version 2.0 or higher of the TonePrint Editor for your Hall of Fame Mini Reverb. Earlier versions do not support Hall of Fame Mini Reverb. Getting support If you still have questions about the product after reading this manual, please get in touch with TC Support: http://tcelectronic.com/support/ Hall of Fame Mini Reverb has unbalanced I/Os, as do all the other pedals in the TonePrint range. Use cables with TS jacks (i.e., standard instrument cables). “Would it be possible to have a ‘Plate Shimmer’ TonePrint for the Hall of Fame Mini?” Unfortunately, no. We do not have a shimmer effect neither in the pedal nor as a TonePrint. The shimmer effect is created by pitching the wet guitar signal up an octave before sending it into the reverb engine, and no pitch algorithm is implemented in the pedal.
