Murray lawn mowers do not seem to enjoy a market reputation for better product. Many product
recalls and many consumer complaints seems to tarnish reputation of Murray lawn mowers. Consumer safety products commission takes up the cases of the
dissatisfied consumers and it has recently given instructions for recall of number of Murray products.
Recent Recalls Of Murray Lawn Mowers
Recently about 17 models of Murray lawn mowers were recalled on the orders of Consumer safety products commission. The case related to the safety of Murray
lawn mowers and possibility of injury to the person working on lawn mower or just standing nearby.
The recall involved 20-, 21-, and 22-inch walk-behind lawn mowers and some 30-inch mid-engine riding lawn mowers. 38-, 40-, 42-, and 46-inch lawn tractors 46-
inch garden tractors were also recalled by the company.
The problem was related to the plastic components of the lawn mowers that cracked when struck by the objects thrown by the blade. These parts could be
ejected from the lawn mower completely unexpectedly and the nearby consumer could be injured. As of now no complaints have been received by the
commission regarding the injury but the recall was initiated all the same to avoid possible injuries.
The total units recalled were about 8o00 numbers
One thing to be said positive about Murray Inc. was that it co-operated with commission and recalled the defective lawn mowers even before the chances of injury

Consumer Complaints About Murray Lawn Mowers
Consumer complaint sites are replete with complaints about Murray lawn mowers. The major complaints were regarding
* Part non-availability: Number of persons reported that parts of Murray lawn mowers were not easily available in the market. This meant that the machines were
not available to the users for quite a long time after having spent lots of dollars in purchasing the lawn mowers.
* Incomplete information The web site states that the best place for spare parts is the local dealer but fails to give the addresses of the local dealers. The web
site gives the addresses of many countries but fails to give the list of USA Service centers
* Substandard parts: Many consumers have complained that the parts of Murray broke down and made the product useless. The non-availability of the spares
added to the problems of consumers.
Once you have a dissatisfied customer, you have a negative publicity, any consumer who says that he/she will not purchase Murray products in lifetime finds
many friends, and the result is bad publicity for the company.

Need the best way to remove the blades from a 1983 Murray riding mower. A tip to find user manual???
Inherited a dinosaur – a 1983 Murray riding mower without a manual. I need to sharpen the blades, but I can’t remove them. I can’t tell if I’m supposed to turn clock or counter
clock – don’t want to strip anything. Do you remove the attached bolt or secure the blade and remove the primary nut?

To find an owners manual go to http://www.murray.com
Once there you need to enter the model number of the tractor, and you can download it to your computer.
You need to secure the blade and remove the nut by turning it left.

3. Bad Ignition Module on Murray Riding Mower?
I have a murray riding mower and i have noticed that when ever i am mowing that when it gets to operating temperature the mower just quits? And i have researched that it is
a bad ignition module. How much would one of those cost and where is it on my mower? Thanks!

My murray riding mower will not move in forward or reverse?
I had to replace a back tire, when I put it back on this happened. I can see that the parking brake is set and I cannot get it to go off. The mower will move when I push it.Could
something have happened when I lifted the back of the mower to remove the tire?

take the tire back off on the axle you will see a slot there is a piece of metal (keyway) that fits in the slot find it and put it back in it might be on the back of the tire

why did my murray riding mower suddenly stop going forward or reverse?
Belts are all good, pedal is hard to push forward and makes a moaning sound when engaged. When i push down really hard the engine starts to slow. I adjusted the drive
belt and checked the tires. Its a murray front engine, model #425619X24A . It worked all day then i stopped to move some planters and when I got back on this started.

What size of drive belt do i need for my 11 HP Murray riding mower?
i dont no the year . Its an older model. This mower has a 11 HP Briggs and Stratton motor. This mower has not been changed it is stock. The motor or the transmission has
not been moved.

Why is gas mixing with oil in my Murray riding mower?
My mower will not start. I found gas mixed in my oil. I have fixed that and used carb cleaner on the carb, but it still won’t start. Any suggestions?

How do I disengage a parking brake from a Murray riding mower?
I have 42″ Murray riding mower approx. at least 20 years old. The parking brake is engaged and will not disengage, how do I fix it?
