AND IT CONTINUES
Now that a week has passed since the latest
Islamic terrorist attack, we have had some
time to digest the carnage. And,
unfortunately, it isn’t a pretty picture. We
have read a lot and spoken with many
people and, across the board, we don’t like
what we see and hear. And we can assume
without any doubt that it isn’t over. In fact,
as we speak, Belgium is under a high terror
alert. We can certainly imagine this and
easily see a capital like Brussels being
attacked. This latest incident is simply a
reminder of how dangerous the world has
become. And we are all affected.
The so called ‘political correctness’ is now a
thing of the past and we are left reeling and
feeling a sense of helplessness. It is such a
difficult thing to combat and attack that
even our fearless ‘leaders’ with their
bravado, are left without solutions. We are
simply waiting for the next shoe to drop.
What people and politicians said before
Paris and what they are saying after is a
whole other ballgame.
Closing all the borders is obviously being
discussed and now, believe it or not, the

Hungarians are looking like heroes. And
Merkel has egg on her face and is probably
waiting for something else to happen very
soon. It is a damn shame because we like
her and believe in her. As for the citizens of
Europe, they are incensed. Everyone we
speak with has changed their opinion. Even
though it is unrealistic, no more
immigrants are wanted in any way, shape
or form.
This was to be expected and nobody
should be surprised by this reaction. And
unfortunately the Muslims have themselves
to blame for disseminating such vitriolic
opinions. When we are in their countries,
we must adjust and adapt but they have
nowhere near the same flexibility when
they settle abroad. Even though the vast
majority are probably wonderful people, it
is that small percentage that destroys
everything good that they stand for. Their
lack of tolerance and their absolute hatred
and desire to destroy everything in their
path, has changed the world forever. For
this they should be proud; we now live in
utter fear.
And America isn’t immune either. They feel
the pain as well and repercussions could
happen on their territory too. The 10000
Syrians that were to be emigrating are not
wanted in most states and the politicians
and the citizens have made this clear. Of
course, the Republicans are more
vociferous and extreme in their complaints
but after all they have a voice too and will
be heard. We will continue to monitor the

the activities and hopefully be able to keep
abreast of it all and get back to you next week.
THE ELECTIONS
The latest in Paris has certainly changed the
game somewhat and it will influence the
coming election. Every one of the candidates
has had their say on the matter because any
political opportunity can’t be ignored.
Obviously this latest incident doesn’t hurt the
Trump steamroll. It makes everything that he
stands for and has said even more relevant.
After all, who could ever forget how he blasted
onto the scene with his opening statements
about Mexican immigrants?
It was not like anything what we had ever seen
in terms of a credible candidate and it caught us
all unaware. We figured he would shine for a
brief period and fade into obscurity soon after.
It didn’t turn out to be the case and his
campaign has taken on more steam than ever.
Will it continue and will he continue to lead? It is
hard to believe but the answers to both these
questions could very well be yes. He has struck
a chord and ignited fear and for those other
candidates who are now following his lead, they
only seem like shallow copycats.
As for the Democrats, they have been, of
course, more moderate and temperate. And
this was to be expected. But they should also be
aware of the country’s changing climate and
adjust their positions accordingly. After all, it
can’t be pushed aside when non-political
candidates like Trump and Carson are able to
garner such support. There is a message being
sent and it shouldn’t be ignored. The public is
sick of the attitudes and opinions that we
routinely hear from the so called ‘professional’
politician. The platitudes have worn thin and
the seemingly brazen Trump is, too many,
refreshingly sincere. We are not defending him
here but we are simply coming forth with some
kind of opinion.
So there you have it. The year is soon ending
and the election process will begin in earnest.
It has been fascinating so far and we can’t wait
to see how it plays out. Vegas has already
established Hillary as an even money favorite
to win the overall election. Trump now stands
at 5 to 1 odds. To be continued…
THE RUSSIANS
For the last year we have been immersed in the
latest version of the “Cold War’. We saw it
coming and we would love to see it end. It is
not healthy and it can and should be stopped.
As a result of the estrangement with the
powers of the West, Russia has attempted to
make a rapprochement with China. We don’t
know how close they may actually be but we
can assure you that this is the last thing that we
wanted. And we don’t blame them the
Russians for this; after all, what choice did they
have?
We have written about this on several
occasions and we believe in what we are
saying. The latest disaster in Paris, coupled
with the downing of the Russian airliner, has
created a unique opportunity for the West and
Russia to work together once again. We do
have a common goal in our fight against
terrorism, and as great as our differences may
be, we would prefer to work together than
against. We believe that this is what they would
wish as well. In this era of globalization, they
have been shut out for some time now. It
makes for a very dangerous climate and we

would assume that this is the last thing that
anyone would want to see.
It may not be a popular choice amongst our
politicians. But do we care about their feelings?
We are well aware of what Putin is and for this
reason we don’t want to be working against
him. It’s not a best case scenario but it sure
beats the alternative.
THE MARKETS
Quite frankly we were shocked by last week’s
action. At the end of last week, considering
what had transpired in Paris, we automatically
assumed that the markets would be pummeled
on the following Monday. In fact, we predicted
at least a two percent drop. Would that have
been so unreasonable when we consider the
turmoil, uncertainly and an unpredictable
future? Monday was excellent and Tuesday was
also good and the week ended on a high note
with another almost a three digit gain on
Friday. For the week, the Dow ended up around
three percent. Honestly, we are almost
speechless and never would have thought that
the markets would go in that direction. It’s not
the first time we are wrong and it is real hard to
get a measure of this market.
As for Gold, it, too, confused us. For the same
reasons that we thought that the markets
would go down, we thought Gold would rise. Of
course that didn’t turn out to be the case and in
fact Gold reacted in an opposite way. It went
down at the beginning of the week only to
recover slightly by week’s end and finish flat
overall. We don’t claim to be experts but we
thought that common sense would prevail.
Being that it didn’t work out the way we
expected, we are confused and slightly
unbalanced and real cautious when it comes
to making any other predictions in the week
to come. Can you blame us?
CONCLUSIONS
Obviously the Paris attacks are still
dominating the news. We fear other attacks
are imminent and really feel that it is not a
question of if but of when. Does it have to be
this way? Is the world really so polarized?
Unfortunately we have no solutions and we
are just left to shake our heads in wonder.
We have no idea what next week will bring as
the year winds down. We will look for
something positive and hope for the best. We
have to begin to summarize the year and
make predictions about the year to come.
Given everything that is going on, it becomes
a daunting task. As with most people, we
have lost our patience and are no longer as
‘politically correct’ as we used to be.
That being said, we now take the time to wish
you all the best. Make a lot of money and be
happy. Good luck and see you next week.
