•The procedures spelled out in your facility Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan are your official guide to response
to spills, these are general guidelines. *
— Notify your supervisor, co-workers and others in the area.
— Do not try to rescue or help injured people unless you are
sure You will be safe, keep people out of the area.
— Otherwise, use absorbent materials on small spills and
leaks rather than washing down or burying the spill.
— Lay enough absorbent material to prevent the spilled
material reach gutters, storm drains and/or watercourses.
— Contaminated absorbent materials should be promptly
removed and disposed of properly.
— Leave the area if the spill cannot be readily contained, or
if it presents an immediate danger to life or health. In
general, evacuate upwind.
In case of large uncontrolled spills, fire or explosions;
activate emergency procedures and contact the Fire Department,
call 787-707-5911 / 4911.
