Getting sick from eating or drinking is something that all consumers want to avoid as they have their daily meals. Notably, in some cases, foodborne illness can be quite serious. Foodborne illnesses are caused by microbes or harmful chemicals (toxins) within a food or beverage. It can be linked to consumption of a variety of foods; fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products and drinking water are among the top items that can harbor these microbes or chemicals that can lead to foodborne illnesses or “food poisoning.” First alert symptoms include stomach pains and/or nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you suspect you have gotten sick from something you ate, you should contact your doctor immediately.

Mobile design needs to stop being an afterthought and start being the default. In this presentation, web developers Brent Swisher and Daniel Slaughter will cover why and how Grand Valley State University implemented their in-house responsive Content Management System. The developers will discuss some of the ways the CMS was structured to make mobile-friendly sites the new standard at GVSU. Major design concepts will be covered, including the decision to break website content into “chunks” that can scale between desktop, tablet, and mobile. They will also discuss some of the challenges encountered when working with the university as a whole, and how they helped GVSU shift from a desktop-only to mobile-friendly approach.

Owing to the fact that people nowadays live longer and retire at a more advanced age, we are slowly but surely entering the period of heterogeneous offices in terms of age differences among workers. According to the 2015 statistics, Millennials and Baby Boomers represent the majority of USA workforce and are bound to be working side by side for many years to come. Nevertheless, problems can occur in the working environment because of their behavioral differences. They can have a negative influence on the quality of the employee collaboration and ultimately cause lowering overall productivity levels. On the other hand, many claim that working in such environment can be quite beneficial, as diverse working attitudes do not necessarily have to imply conflict. By working in heterogeneous offices, employees are provided with an opportunity to complete one another.
