Hiring a Nikon camera and tripod for filming a 1920s period film
1. A standard Nikon camera to do our filming with. £218.70 to hire for the weekend.
I’ve chose a 3 piece lighting system, but I’m not quite sure if I’ll need one because we are
filming outside in daylight.
To compose steady filming we will definitely need a tripod to place the camera on. It’s only
£30 to hire for the weekend.
2. For the two male characters,
because of the era we are
basing our film on, they will
both need suits. I’ve chosen 2
basic black suits that don’t
affect the budget.
Also to fit in with the era, we need our characters to wear bowler and trilby hats. Not because
they have to, because it fits in with their personalities and their character.
3. On the internet I found a realistic idea of what sort of dress I want the woman Rose to wear. It’s
a classic 1920’s dress and really reflects her kind, bubbly personality.
As well as the hats, another great accessory would be bow ties. Most men back in them days
wore bowties so it’s relevant to our idea.
4. Once we have done all of our filming, the editing of the footage will then need to take place. We
will need programs such as after effects and premier pro. With this package on Adobe, we will
have everything we need to edit and mess around with our film.
We do not have to pay any fees for locations as we are filming most of our film in local parks,
and on the streets of Manchester. Because this is public domain, there should be no cost. But
just in case we will put £100 aside.
We also have put aside £5 aside to purchase the bread needed for the bread fight at the end of
the film.
5. So we are covered for anything that breaks or goes wrong. It’s important that we apply for film
production insurance. The average price for the insurance is usually £750, so if it has to bbe
done, we have to pay that price.
6. I worked out an average of £205 to help advertise the film. £5 of this is to enter in to a UK film
festival. The other £200 is to get billboards, posters and leaflets printed. The majority of
advertising will be done through social networking, to target our audience. Sites such as Twitter,
Facebook, LinkdIn, Google Ads will help spread the word about our film.
