IF GOD SAYS “YES”, NOBODY CAN SAY “NO”
New ASF Chaplain, ASF new leadership, new incentives are concepts currently associated with ASF, yet
still the main thing is the main thing, our Mission, that’s to serve the needs of students and community, to
proclaim The Gospel of Jesus Christ and to develop mature Christian leaders for leadership in church and
community. Changes do not only open doors to new things, but they also create opportunities for treasurers
bestowed for us in future. If one door closes for us, God will always open another door for us and have our
way out, no matter what.

Highlights of ASF Activities: Feb-June 2014
ASF Official Opening 2014
It was on the very 1st March 2014 at bishop Courts when ASF
Namibia officially opened its programmes and agendas offi-
cially. It was at the same occasion were ASF Namibia officially
welcomed Reverend Joseph N Hanghome as ASF Namibia
Chaplain, after succeeding Reverend Lasarus N Ngube, ASF
founding Chaplain.
This event was attended by Anglican Diocese Bishop, The Right
Reverend Bishop Nathaniel Nakwatumbah, Anglican Diocesan
Treasure/Secretary Reverend Lukas K Katenda, Mrs. Ndahafa
Eliasel of Kuryangava Anglican church as the invited guests.
ASF Ladies & gentlemen parliament
Be it the concepts of fifty-fifty, gender equality or relationship
responsibilities, these are not of exception to ASF, thus on Satur-
day,05th April 2014 at St Michaels, ASF Namibia held a ladies
and gentlemen parliament, which was organized to discuss the
topic of Courtship and Dating, their nature, differences and rec-
ommendations. Parent (s) invited were Mrs. Penny Shiweda and
Mr. Lebeus Shimhanda were invited to share their view on the
two crucial concepts in today's’ circular world.
ASF General Assembly
It was a fair yet cold Saturday, 21st March 2014 at St Michaels’
Parish, where ASF Namibia held its second general assembly for
the year term 2013/14. General assembly in ASF is one of those
events members always longed for to ask their questions and
queries concerning ASF operations..
Mr. Elias M Shilongo

Its also a platform for REC to brief their members of the
developments in their respective offices.
ASF Two-years’ Anniversary
With it said that ASF was officially launched in Namibia on 21st
April 2012 at St. Michael’s Parish by The Right Reverend
Bishop Nathaniel N Nakwatumbah, Anglican Diocese Bishop,
this leads to ASF Namibia marking its two-year anniversary on
21st April 2014. It was held at St. Michael’s Parish, with guest
speakers as Father Patrick Djuulume and Reverend Paulus Shi-
mana who encouraged ASFers to never look back, but keep up
the faith, in and out of the season.
This event was themed “God With us” as well know by many as
“Immanuel”. Member also got an opportunity to watch the series
of timeline of ASF activities since its launch which they enjoy
most.
ASF Brae & Car washes
ASF as a non-profit making establishment, it has no fixed and
reliable sources of finance, it relies on voluntary donations from
individuals, organizations, parishes and in organizing of fund-
raising events such as brae & car washes. For the year 2014,
ASF Namibia organized braai events twice; on Saturday 29th
March 2014 at St. Michael's’ parish with a car wash and Satur-
day 07 June 2014 at Father Mathew Nghishekwa residence re-
spectively. Brae and car washes are usually organized during
preparation of conferences.
ASF Regional Conference 2014
It is a custom for ASF to hold a regional conference annually,
and as per its constitution to conduct elections as such. It has
been in a pipeline for ASF Namibia to hold its regional confer-
ence at Hifikepunye Pohamba UNAM Campus at Ongwediva,
on the 24th-27th June 2014. ASFers had fun, spiritually uplifted,
managed to do an outreach at Oshakati State Hospital, and
elected its new regional executive committee (REC 2014/15).
My dream became true.
First of all I would like to give thanks to the Almighty God for
He made my dream to comes true. Just to give a short history of
the day ASF Namibia was
launched, I was one of the invited
speakers, and my topic was
“Being a true soldier of Christ”.
I mention two types of soldiers,
Rev: Joseph H Hanghome
ASF Namibia Chaplain
4
one is a soldier by name or by uniform while the other one is a
soldier by training.
I highlighted that a soldier by name is compared with a Christian
by name or by uniform. But a trained soldier is to be compared
with Christian by Faith.
Therefore a Christian by name or by uniform is not worth to be
called a true soldier of Christ because he or she is not trained, he
do not know how to fight and whom to fight with. Christian by
faith is more worth to be called a true soldier of Christ because
they know how to fight and whom to fight with. Put on all the
armour that God gives you so that you will be able to stand up
against the devil's evil tricks.
For we are not fighting against human beings but against the
wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world the rulers, authori-
ties and cosmic powers of this Dark Age (Ephesians 6:11-12).
True soldier of Christ or Christians by faith had believed this and
take it as a warning in their live, but Christians by name or Sol-
dier by uniform refuse it.
During the time of my introduction that day I said I want to be a
vice Chaplain of this Federation, so 1 January 2014 my dream
come true not a vice but a full chaplain of Anglican Student fed-
eration.
During the tenure office for my Regional executives committee
of ASF Namibia I real enjoyed the office as a new Chaplain.
They know their duty and they try all their level best to help me
in order for me to adapt the system of ASF. The Regional execu-
tives of 2013-2014 has helped me in the following: Contacting
Bible study in my absent at their Ansocs, attending important
meeting especially with CCN just to mention few. They are the
one to organise meetings and events.
If one ask me to describe them with few words I would say, they
are true soldiers of Christ. These is because they know where
they are coming from and where they are heading to. In another
word I can say they are visionary leaders. It was not easy for me
and for them to run this office especially at the beginning of the
year. Few changes were made in the federation but they were
standing still to convince their fellow students.
It was a difficult time for them when the attendances of the
members were declining at the beginning of this year and it is a
time a new Chaplain is coming in the office.
Yet they did not give up because of their strong faith but it was
serious issue in the REC office. There are three major subjects
for me us a Chaplain to full fill: To maintain peace, love and
unity within the federation.
In my conclusion I just want to wish you all the best my Re-
gional executive committee for your good generosity during
your term of office. Be reminded that Leadership without change
is not leadership.
As one of the objective and part of our mission statement
which is to proclaim The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, we
would like educate fellow Christians the topic; ‘Temptation’.
Temptation
Temptations are the desires and craving for things that God for-
bids and is harmful to our human bodies and spirit. When we
feel an urge or craving for such
things, we are being tempted to do
evil.
The challenge of being a Christian is
the temptations we face every day.
According to Matthew 18:7 it says „‟
how terrible for the world that there
are things that make people lose
their faith! Such things will always
happen but how terrible for the one who cause them‟‟ these
verse make it clear for us that we will be tempted, it is obvious
that it will happen and there is no way we cannot be tempted as
long as we are living in this world.
We use to fall in to temptation because of the following facts
mentioned below.
Obsession of wealth :Letting wealth and money to controls us is
one of the temptations that trap most of the people in to sins. It is
not that bad to possess wealth or money, but the badness of it
comes in once you want to obtain them in the other way around
(unrighteous).
In the book of 1Timothy 6:9-10 we were told „‟those who want
to get rich fall into temptation and are caught in the trap of
many foolish and harmful desire, which pull them down to ruin
and destruction.10 for the love of money is a source of all kind
of evil .Some have been so eager to have it that they have wan-
dered away from their faith and have broken their hearts with
many sorrows‟‟.
Miss Maliza Shalikoshi

Weakness of our flesh
Our flesh is also weak and it causes us to fall into temptation.
We may have a good intention to do something but the weak-
ness of our flesh make us to give up our faith. „‟keep watching
and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is
willing but the flesh is weak‟‟ (Matthew 26:41).
Lust
Lust within us is one of the major causes of temptation. When
we strongly desire those materialistic and economical goods we
end up losing our morals and being in their control then we be-
come moral weaklings that have no internal security neither
purpose nor foundation for a good living.
People have the habit of blaming others for their own behavior.
Some they turn to blame their family members saying they had
had trapped them into temptation. Some blame God saying he
let them to be tempted and some they make it worse by saying
that God is tempting them.
“If people are tempted by such trial, they must not say, this
temptation comes from God. For God cannot be tempted by
evil and he himself tempts no one’’ (James 1:13). The truth is
that God does not tempt any person. God loves, cares, and
seeks to save man, not to damage or destroy their body and
spirit. We are all responsible for our own temptation because is
caused by our own evil desires. “But people are tempted when
they are drawn away and trapped by their own evil de-
sires.” (James 1:14).
The bible tells us that we have to flee from temptation (2 Tim
2:22) "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith,
charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure
heart." You cannot flee from temptation if you don't know
when you are being tempted and you won't know if you are
being tempted once you don't know what temptation is, again
you won't know what is temptation if the Holy spirit of God
which is our teacher, helper, comforter and guider is not in you,
and once the holy spirit is not in you than you won't recall that,
what you are doing is wrong.
In union with God the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit we
can able to defeat any kind of temptation that will come in our
ways. Just like how Jesus Christ defeated Satan in the desert.
"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to
mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted
beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will
also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Corinthians
10:13).
God loves us so much and he will never let us to be tempted
beyond our control. During temptation call upon the lord and
he will provide a way out for you, because he is our rescue dur-
ing any situation we are in.

Voice of ASF REC 2014/15
Below is a series of opinions of ASF regional executive com-
mittee members on what they would like to achieve/accomplish
in their offices during their terms of offices as well as special
messages to fellow ASFers and other Christians.
Name: Mr. Fillemon V Shilongo
Portfolio: ASF Chairperson
ANSOC: Polytechnic of Namibia
What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term
in the office?
As ASF Chairperson, I would like to accomplish the following,
which are not limited to;
Coordination: With God’s help, mentorship and dependence, I
would like to fruitfully cooperate and co-ordinate my fellow
REC in our effort to serve the needs of students and community ,
proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and of developing mature
Christian leaders for leadership in church and community.
Fulfillment of aims and objectives of ASF: Together with my
fellow REC, and all other subcommittees (EoC, Finance, etc.),
would like to strive towards fulfillment of ASF aims and objec-
tives, to derive notable and tangible results of ASF aims and ob-
jects fulfilled in one way or another during this term of office.
Inspiration: By God’s wisdom and guidance, I would like to
pave the way for ASF future leaders after us, to inspire them
positively in leadership, in such a way to make someone else
hungry to lead ASF Namibia.
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
Love: For the world to know that we, ASFers belong to Jesus
Christ, we should love each other as according to 1 Corinthians
13:4-8. Not doing this, the world itself will be puzzled of us.
Let us All strive towards the goal: We shouldn’t say that we
have already attained it, neither we are perfect, but to say that we
are following after that goal, Philippians 3:12-14. Rome was not
build in one day, let the battle go on.
ASF have it all: I fully believe that ASF Namibia have all it
needs to attain its aims and objectives for the following reason
which are not limited to; firstly, ASF Namibia have Jesus Christ,
secondly ASF is enriched with numerous professionals in vari-
ous fields of study, thirdly ASF have a very helpful community
and church.
We are One: We are many members in One body, who is
Christ, with different duties, Romans 12: 4-8.
Name: Mr. Penetius P Mangudu
Portfolio: ASF Vice-Chairperson
ANSOC: Polytechnic of Namibia
What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term
in the office?
My aimed accomplishment in my term office is Summed up by
these three words: Unity, Love and Peace. My goals and work in
this office should reflect on these three pillars and in our federa-
tion.
-Unity among all members and ANSOCs.
-Open and direct relationship between all members and the REC,
where their voices are heard and put to work.
-Better and broad understanding of the Federation for all mem-
bers.
-Create external relationship with other youth groups.
-More youth projects in ASF, for spiritual growth and social de-
velopment.
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
Fellow ASFers this is our federation, we must love and embrace
it. This is God’s gift to us. We must all work towards the success
of this federation.
We should stay true to our faith in Christ , be good disciples of
Christ in our daily lives. Remember, a dormant ASF member is a
dormant federation, so let us be active for our federation to be
effective and have a positive impact on students and community
at large may . God bless ASF Namibia. I love you all.

Name: Ms. Ndilimeke Haimbangu
Portfolio: ASF General Secretary
ANSOC: Polytechnic of Namibia
What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term
in the office?
I want members to have a smooth communication channel with
the REC for them to express their views on a certain issues or
changes. For the Chairpersons to work hand in hand with their
Secretaries in drawing up agendas and also during the conduc-
tion of the meetings.
I want to ensure openness with the members within ASF as
whole e.g. ladies to be open to each other and also gentlemen to
merge in the same activities and come forward to share what
they would want to share.
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
To my fellow ASFers, I want to tell them that we should always
remember the reason of them being in ASF in times of tempta-
tions because temptations are what strengthen our faith.
We should always put God first regardless the situation we may
find ourselves for learning on our own understanding is always a
bad choice, Psalm 118:8.
To all Christians we should always be aware of our actions not to
drink alcohol and forget what we could do/did which may lead to
a difficult and naïve situation. We should always remember that
God is our everything and we need him everyday and every time.
Psalm 23.
Name: Mr. Jonas Heita
Portfolio: ASF Gender, Education,
& Transformation Officer
ANSOC: University of Namibia
What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term
in the office?
Strive for Academic excellence, Social development and Spiri-
tual growth within ASF Namibia Region
Install hope into fellow ASF members thus, to acquire each and
everyone’s interest into the Federation affairs. Expectations from
us as members of this manner/characters within our members
and consider possible ways to solve this.
As it’s said that, knowledge is power! I will therefore aim much
more on sharing of individual & personal life skills that each
one of us posses and know to enrich our individual thinking ca-
pacity, knowledge and skills, Friendship and a strong bond rela-
tionship among members of ASF to grow.
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
Teamwork and dedication to our mission as ASFers and fellow
Christian family at large will for sure lead us to a great achieve-
ment of the goals we set.
Wherever you find yourself , be bright and pray to God Al-
mighty.
Be of value to a body (ASF Namibia, a Christian Organization,
a residence– house etc..) to be a Christian, you serve!
However be sure to do it with love and willingness always.
Leading does not mean we are the best or the perfect one but,
rather humbleness scarifies and serve God through others.
So, beloved members let us share our efforts, ability and time
into matters of our Federation wherever & whenever possible.
May peace & love of our Lord Jesus Christ be among us always.

What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your
term in the office?
I During my term in the office, I want to work in good advan-
tage of this federation, making the federation known in the en-
tire country and make sure the events to be held are well marked
Since ASF is a students ministry, I would like to make it known
by students in different higher institutions and colleges.
I want to take the Choir to the NBC TV Mobilization
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
My massage to my fellow ASFers and all Christians is taken
from Romans 12:9-18
Let us love each other with sincere and hate what is evil, respect
each other and live by a prayer.
Let us be careful to what is right in the eyes of everybody, and
whenever possible as far as depends on us live at peace with
everyone.
Let us not pay evil with evil but let us be a good example and
glorifying the LORD Almighty.
Name: Ms. Aili N Hamunyela
Portfolio: ASF General Treasurer
ANSOC: Polytechnic of Namibia
What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your
term in the office?
I would like to make sure that all members who have settled
their fees (membership & affiliation)
Will have their membership cards and forms for the first time in
this region. As ASF is a non-profit federation, I would like to
get sponsorships to have our own transport. Last but not least I
will make sure that the region is always financially stable. And
lastly I will try by all means to help out students who really need
help financially.
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
My massage to all ASFers is taken from the book of Saint Luke
11:24-26 ,When an evil spirit comes out of a man it goes
through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.
Then it says , I will return to the house I left. When it arrives it
finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and
takes seven others spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in
and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than
that the first. Let us be serious with our lives and avoid backslid-
ing as it is very dangerous. Pray always!!!
What is the Mission of ASF Namibia in short?
ASF have a long mission of bringing students together to ex-
plore how to live out a radical faith in today's world regardless
of age, ethnic origin, ability, sex, belief
or political affiliation recognizing the
value of our many differences.
It thus follows that ASF is a Home
Away From Home, for all Christian
scholars, irrespective of their reli-
gious origin or denominations, i.e.
Not only for Anglicans, but for all
believers, who have hunger and eagerness on knowing who Je-
sus Christ, The Lord is and serve Him. Thank you.
Name: Ms Tresia N Hamutenya
Portfolio: ANSOC Chairperson
ANSOC: University of Namibia
What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your
term in the office?
As a Chairperson, I want to achieve more of what I expected to
do, conducting all the meetings and make sure all my BEC do
what they are expected to do.
I also want to make sure that whatever we planned during the
year 2014/15 is done and lastly not to let my ANSOC down.
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
Serve the community by spreading the Gospel of Christ and
helping them in whatever you can so that your Father in heaven
can reward you. May the love rule in your hearts, Ephesians
4:26. I love you.
Rev. Joseph Hanghome
ASF-Namibia: Chaplain
9
Name: Ms Anna N Nakafingo
Portfolio: ANSOC Chairperson
Ansoc: Polytechnic of Namibia
What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your
term in the office?
Leadership is about doing something that matters; therefore by
the will of God I will ask him to direct me through my journey
in the office. Positive social change is purpose driven, commu-
nity based, and intensely personal.
The list of things that I would like to accomplish is countless but
since I am just a vessel who wait on God for fulfillment I can
not really tell what I would like to achieve at the end. We human
plans and fail more especially when God is not involved in our
plans.
I would like by the end of our term to make sure that our Ansoc
will be legally registered with the Polytechnic of Namibia, To
build a relationship with few companies by them becoming our
sponsors in any kind and for now we are looking at developing
an internship program with. At the end of this term I would also
want to be a well-trained leader– mature Christian, having
knowledge—Proverbs 1:7
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
These are bad/evil days we are living in and we need to be re-
sponsible of how we live our lives.
I would like to encourage us to stand firm as per 2 Thess 2:15
“Therefore brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which ye
have been taught, whether by words or our epistle let us stick/
hold the unto the gospel of Christ and not of men, Be people of
prayers, Mediate the word and study it day and night to know
what is required from us.
Trust and obey God may we all live according to what God has
called as for ,for the cause of Christ and may the will of Christ
Jesus our Lord be done in our lives. Its best to suffer for being a
Christian than suffering for being someone else.
Name: Mr. Taveuli G Ngube
Portfolio: ANSOC Chairperson
Ansoc: International University of
Management.
What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your
term in the office?
Concurrent with the mission of ASFN, I will strive to contribute
to society's intellectual, cultural, spiritual, and economic pro-
gress and well-being to the maximum possible extent. My pri-
mary objective is to support the success of students.
Development of individual identity, organizational effective-
ness, and positive social change are intimately intertwined.
Experiential learning is at the core of the co-curriculum. In-
volvement and leadership activities take many shapes and forms
which honor the diversity of our society. Community matters –
success is defined by a whole and diverse community.
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
It is embarrassing to belong to a faith that attracts a group of
people who always have to be right, and when something pushes
out just a bit, they want to shut it down or keep people away.
We need to stand firm, and not surrender on what we are doing.
We must not praise people but God himself the creator of
Heaven and Earth. May God bless you all in your entire lives.
Name: Mr. Nelson Ndakevondjo
Portfolio: ANSOC Chairperson
Ansoc: Paulinum Theological
Seminary
What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your
term in the office?
During my term in the office as branch Chairperson I am highly
eager put this branch at the best standard in all angles, especial
the spiritual level of the members, the financial standard
10
of the branch and enable the member to go and serve the people
of God effectively.
I also want to do my best to contribute to the growth of the
whole Federation (regional level) and strengthen the federation
that it can able to stretch out its hands to reach and assist the
poor, orphans and all disadvantage people out there. I also would
like to contribute to the growth of the federation in all means that
it can able to reach all the corners of the country (All necessary
institution).
Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians:
My Massage to my fellow ASFers is that, in the first point we
have called in one family and in deed a Holy family of God and
this a Christian family.
This can be served through different gathering or groups such as
this federation we are today (ASF), Under this family we are not
alone but with the Holy Spirit Which gathers, guide, strengthen
and leads, therefore let us be courageous enough to serve God
and also brings others into this family of God through this fed-
eration since it's our duty.
Let not only serve God while we are in this federation or doing
our studies but for our entire life.
Lastly I would like to remind you that you are the light of the
world and city on a hill can not be hidden (Matt 5:14) so be
bright in the corners were you are and be blessed always.
ASF Activities: August-October 2014
Here comes the reflection of ASF activities for the time frame
of August –October 2014.
ASF Namibia General Assembly
It was a fair Saturday, the 2nd
of August at Bishop Courts
(Namibia Anglican Diocese Bishop House), where ASF Namibia
held its first general assembly for the year term 2014/15. The
primary aims and objectives of this event was to evaluated and
give a reflection of what happened in the previous term of lead-
ership, to introduce the new elected leadership by then and to
give the way forward for the faced term in the region.
Two crucial matters had transpired; which were to launch the
regional Plan of Action (PoA) or the term as well as the adop-
tion of the yet-to-be launched regional Constitution of ASF Na-
mibia, should it be approved by PEC. This event was attended by
a sum of over 39 students, and they got opportunity to chat and

ASF Namibia Education Workshop at Okuryangava church
The 20th
September 2014 marked as ASF Namibia regional edu-
cational workshop which was described by a vast number of
attendants as ‘successful, educating’. It was one of this kind of
event of its standard to be prepared in Namibia region since its
inception, thus it attracted at a sum of over 190 attendants. This
event was themed “Remember where you came from, know
where you are”.
Four eligible speakers where chosen to present presentations at
the workshop, which were Pastor Laban Mwashekele, Mrs. La-
paka Weyulu, Dr. Tshapaka Tsakapolo and Mr. Tadeus Kam-
bau. The event was spiced up by the performance of ASF
Drama team as well as ASF Choir and a supplementary gentle
music.
ASF Social Evening
It was on 04th October at St. Michaels when ASF Namibia
planned and held its social evening.
The primary objects of this event was to create links with our
Christian societies, to market ASF as well as to fundraise.
Even though the turn out of invited groups was low, ASF Choir
was not discouraged but to do what the event was intended to
do, forward they went. ASF Choir was “in colors” as it was the
first time to wear their brand new choir uniform.
ASF End-of-year Function and All-night Prayer 2014
For the year long, the “ship” which has been sailing has been
parked for a while on the 17th October 2014 at United Congre-
gational Church in Khomasdal, Windhoek. This is to illustrate
the closure of ASF Namibia activities for the year 2014. As it is
reflecting in ASF Plan of Action (PoA), the end-of-year func-
tion intends to officially put on-hold the activities of the PoA ,
yet the offices at various levels are still active and on duty,
A number of guests were invited, and the present guests include
Pastor Laban Mwashekele, Father Lukas K Katenda, Tate Jonas
Neulumo, Tate & Meme Nekongo. Among the invited guests,
some happen to be awarded due to their outstanding support
towards ASF in anyway.
It was the very same night, ASFers indulged into All-night
Prayer Session, which leads to Saturday,18th October morning.
This is one of the main Spiritual-uplifting event in ASF.

Today’s generation
Our country is in confusion, people are worried and hopeless like
there is no God. We are now like
sheep’s without a shepherd, we are on
our own.
We all have failed, we neglected our
responsibilities. A saying that says
“the best inheritance that you can
leave your kid is an example of how to
live a full and meaningful life” Dan
Zandra, is true. Most of the parents
are not good examples to their chil-
dren, their way of living are the reason why their kids are who they
are today. If you have been a good example to your kid you should
remember that kids only do what they see and not what they hear,
actions speaks louder than words.
A parent was supposed to be a teacher, not only in words but also
in actions. What parents do we have in Namibia? Parents who
fights in front of their children, sending them to go buy alcohol,
parents who don’t even care when their children are going out late
in the night and not even what their children are putting on (some
parents are the one who buy them miniskirts). Do not be deceived,
you will reap what your sow, Galatians 6:7. It is easy to dodge our
responsibilities but we cannot dodge the consequences of dodging
our responsibilities.
The Lord has instructed us to train our children in the way they
should go and when they are old they will not depart from it, Prov-
erbs 22:6. On the other hand, some of our parents are correcting,
teaching and rebuking our bad behaviors but in response we insult
them, we think they are behind forgetting that they were also
youths they know the danger of what we are doing.
Namibian youths are easily influenced, whatever is on the table
they will eat, drink and so on. Drinking alcohol and using drugs.
Let’s respect our values and know where we are from. We should
also put in mind that this world is not our home but we are just
passing by and we will be accountable for our lives before God the
Day of Judgment. Remember: “You were born an original,
don’t die a copy”, John Mason.
ASF Namibia being there to serve the needs of students and the com-
munities; we are fully supporting all the educational training institu-
tions at all levels and encouraging students, learners and parents to be
involved to emulate vision 2030. Enroll today with NSEA.

Changes do not only open doors to new things, but they also create opportunities for treasurers bestowed for us in future. If one door closes for us, God will always open another door for us and have our way out, no matter what. INSIDE T HIS ISSUE:
  • 2. 2 Editor's note Greeting you dearly loved parents, fellow youth & dearly loved brothers and sisters in Christ, let me to greet you in the precious Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Time has come to hear from ASF Namibia again, this time through a brand new publication, namely “ASF-NamFacts” which implies Anglican Students’ Federa- tion Namibia Facts. It will be giving the highlights of ASF Namibia activi- ties each semester. This communiqué serve as a medium of communication with our esteemed ASF family countrywide, reaching you wherever you are. This will guarantee us that you won’t be left out as far as ASf Namibia activities are concerned. I therefore would like to thank God for His strength and guidance. The content of this ASF-NamFacts consist of highlights of ASF activities as from February to June 2014 (Page 2, selected arti- cles of interest by several authors, as a part of our effort to spread The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (Page 4 & 12)Do familiarize yourself with ASF Namibia regional executive com- mittee members (Page 6), last but not least, check out and enroll with educational institutions; NSEA and Aisha academy (Page 12). Lastly, I would like to thank Mr. Phillipus Shilongo who helped with the whole design and publishing of this issue. My hope for this issue is that by the time you close the last page, you’ll not only feel wanting to continue reading this issue, but also feel spiritually uplifted. Do patiently wait for our next ASF- NamFacts latest June 2015, and I guarantee you the best. May God bless you all abundantly. Highlights of ASF Activities: Feb-June 2014 ASF Official Opening 2014 It was on the very 1st March 2014 at bishop Courts when ASF Namibia officially opened its programmes and agendas offi- cially. It was at the same occasion were ASF Namibia officially welcomed Reverend Joseph N Hanghome as ASF Namibia Chaplain, after succeeding Reverend Lasarus N Ngube, ASF founding Chaplain. This event was attended by Anglican Diocese Bishop, The Right Reverend Bishop Nathaniel Nakwatumbah, Anglican Diocesan Treasure/Secretary Reverend Lukas K Katenda, Mrs. Ndahafa Eliasel of Kuryangava Anglican church as the invited guests. ASF Ladies & gentlemen parliament Be it the concepts of fifty-fifty, gender equality or relationship responsibilities, these are not of exception to ASF, thus on Satur- day,05th April 2014 at St Michaels, ASF Namibia held a ladies and gentlemen parliament, which was organized to discuss the topic of Courtship and Dating, their nature, differences and rec- ommendations. Parent (s) invited were Mrs. Penny Shiweda and Mr. Lebeus Shimhanda were invited to share their view on the two crucial concepts in today's’ circular world. ASF General Assembly It was a fair yet cold Saturday, 21st March 2014 at St Michaels’ Parish, where ASF Namibia held its second general assembly for the year term 2013/14. General assembly in ASF is one of those events members always longed for to ask their questions and queries concerning ASF operations.. Mr. Elias M Shilongo ASF Namibia MPO
  • 3. 3 Its also a platform for REC to brief their members of the developments in their respective offices. ASF Two-years’ Anniversary With it said that ASF was officially launched in Namibia on 21st April 2012 at St. Michael’s Parish by The Right Reverend Bishop Nathaniel N Nakwatumbah, Anglican Diocese Bishop, this leads to ASF Namibia marking its two-year anniversary on 21st April 2014. It was held at St. Michael’s Parish, with guest speakers as Father Patrick Djuulume and Reverend Paulus Shi- mana who encouraged ASFers to never look back, but keep up the faith, in and out of the season. This event was themed “God With us” as well know by many as “Immanuel”. Member also got an opportunity to watch the series of timeline of ASF activities since its launch which they enjoy most. ASF Brae & Car washes ASF as a non-profit making establishment, it has no fixed and reliable sources of finance, it relies on voluntary donations from individuals, organizations, parishes and in organizing of fund- raising events such as brae & car washes. For the year 2014, ASF Namibia organized braai events twice; on Saturday 29th March 2014 at St. Michael's’ parish with a car wash and Satur- day 07 June 2014 at Father Mathew Nghishekwa residence re- spectively. Brae and car washes are usually organized during preparation of conferences. ASF Regional Conference 2014 It is a custom for ASF to hold a regional conference annually, and as per its constitution to conduct elections as such. It has been in a pipeline for ASF Namibia to hold its regional confer- ence at Hifikepunye Pohamba UNAM Campus at Ongwediva, on the 24th-27th June 2014. ASFers had fun, spiritually uplifted, managed to do an outreach at Oshakati State Hospital, and elected its new regional executive committee (REC 2014/15). My dream became true. First of all I would like to give thanks to the Almighty God for He made my dream to comes true. Just to give a short history of the day ASF Namibia was launched, I was one of the invited speakers, and my topic was “Being a true soldier of Christ”. I mention two types of soldiers, Rev: Joseph H Hanghome ASF Namibia Chaplain
  • 4. 4 one is a soldier by name or by uniform while the other one is a soldier by training. I highlighted that a soldier by name is compared with a Christian by name or by uniform. But a trained soldier is to be compared with Christian by Faith. Therefore a Christian by name or by uniform is not worth to be called a true soldier of Christ because he or she is not trained, he do not know how to fight and whom to fight with. Christian by faith is more worth to be called a true soldier of Christ because they know how to fight and whom to fight with. Put on all the armour that God gives you so that you will be able to stand up against the devil's evil tricks. For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world the rulers, authori- ties and cosmic powers of this Dark Age (Ephesians 6:11-12). True soldier of Christ or Christians by faith had believed this and take it as a warning in their live, but Christians by name or Sol- dier by uniform refuse it. During the time of my introduction that day I said I want to be a vice Chaplain of this Federation, so 1 January 2014 my dream come true not a vice but a full chaplain of Anglican Student fed- eration. During the tenure office for my Regional executives committee of ASF Namibia I real enjoyed the office as a new Chaplain. They know their duty and they try all their level best to help me in order for me to adapt the system of ASF. The Regional execu- tives of 2013-2014 has helped me in the following: Contacting Bible study in my absent at their Ansocs, attending important meeting especially with CCN just to mention few. They are the one to organise meetings and events. If one ask me to describe them with few words I would say, they are true soldiers of Christ. These is because they know where they are coming from and where they are heading to. In another word I can say they are visionary leaders. It was not easy for me and for them to run this office especially at the beginning of the year. Few changes were made in the federation but they were standing still to convince their fellow students. It was a difficult time for them when the attendances of the members were declining at the beginning of this year and it is a time a new Chaplain is coming in the office. Yet they did not give up because of their strong faith but it was serious issue in the REC office. There are three major subjects for me us a Chaplain to full fill: To maintain peace, love and unity within the federation. In my conclusion I just want to wish you all the best my Re- gional executive committee for your good generosity during your term of office. Be reminded that Leadership without change is not leadership. As one of the objective and part of our mission statement which is to proclaim The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, we would like educate fellow Christians the topic; ‘Temptation’. Temptation Temptations are the desires and craving for things that God for- bids and is harmful to our human bodies and spirit. When we feel an urge or craving for such things, we are being tempted to do evil. The challenge of being a Christian is the temptations we face every day. According to Matthew 18:7 it says „‟ how terrible for the world that there are things that make people lose their faith! Such things will always happen but how terrible for the one who cause them‟‟ these verse make it clear for us that we will be tempted, it is obvious that it will happen and there is no way we cannot be tempted as long as we are living in this world. We use to fall in to temptation because of the following facts mentioned below. Obsession of wealth :Letting wealth and money to controls us is one of the temptations that trap most of the people in to sins. It is not that bad to possess wealth or money, but the badness of it comes in once you want to obtain them in the other way around (unrighteous). In the book of 1Timothy 6:9-10 we were told „‟those who want to get rich fall into temptation and are caught in the trap of many foolish and harmful desire, which pull them down to ruin and destruction.10 for the love of money is a source of all kind of evil .Some have been so eager to have it that they have wan- dered away from their faith and have broken their hearts with many sorrows‟‟. Miss Maliza Shalikoshi Poly Ansoc
  • 5. 5 Weakness of our flesh Our flesh is also weak and it causes us to fall into temptation. We may have a good intention to do something but the weak- ness of our flesh make us to give up our faith. „‟keep watching and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak‟‟ (Matthew 26:41). Lust Lust within us is one of the major causes of temptation. When we strongly desire those materialistic and economical goods we end up losing our morals and being in their control then we be- come moral weaklings that have no internal security neither purpose nor foundation for a good living. People have the habit of blaming others for their own behavior. Some they turn to blame their family members saying they had had trapped them into temptation. Some blame God saying he let them to be tempted and some they make it worse by saying that God is tempting them. “If people are tempted by such trial, they must not say, this temptation comes from God. For God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one’’ (James 1:13). The truth is that God does not tempt any person. God loves, cares, and seeks to save man, not to damage or destroy their body and spirit. We are all responsible for our own temptation because is caused by our own evil desires. “But people are tempted when they are drawn away and trapped by their own evil de- sires.” (James 1:14). The bible tells us that we have to flee from temptation (2 Tim 2:22) "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart." You cannot flee from temptation if you don't know when you are being tempted and you won't know if you are being tempted once you don't know what temptation is, again you won't know what is temptation if the Holy spirit of God which is our teacher, helper, comforter and guider is not in you, and once the holy spirit is not in you than you won't recall that, what you are doing is wrong. In union with God the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit we can able to defeat any kind of temptation that will come in our ways. Just like how Jesus Christ defeated Satan in the desert. "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13). God loves us so much and he will never let us to be tempted beyond our control. During temptation call upon the lord and he will provide a way out for you, because he is our rescue dur- ing any situation we are in. ASF Namibia in context: The Anglican Students’ Federation in Namibia (ASF Namibia) has a mission to serve the needs of students and community, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to develop mature Christian leaders for leadership in church and community. ASF is a students’ Christian organisation which operates at ter- tiary institutions, currently at Polytechnic of Namibia main campus, University of Namibia main campus, IUM main cam- pus, Paulinum and IUM Ongwediva. ASF strives to provide students (not only Anglican) with a place to worship, have fellowship and fun, and share God's love, irrespective of their religious denomination, gender, race, culture and political affiliation. ASF was found in 1960 by South African Anglican Theological students. ASF is an international organisation in Southern Af- rica and is currently in countries, namely South Africa (where ASF head office is), Mozambique, Angola, Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia. ASF was launched in Namibia on the 21st April 2012 at St Mi- chael’s parish in Windhoek by the Right Revd. Bishop Nathan- iel Nakwatumbah. Anyone who wishes to express interest in ASF Namibia can fall into any of the three categories of memberships: 1. Registered students- for the initial registered students at tertiary institutions. 2. Friends of ASF- for former students at tertiary institutions, sister society members, general members of the public and indi- viduals can register for friendship in ASF. 3. • 6. 6 Voice of ASF REC 2014/15 Below is a series of opinions of ASF regional executive com- mittee members on what they would like to achieve/accomplish in their offices during their terms of offices as well as special messages to fellow ASFers and other Christians. Name: Mr. Fillemon V Shilongo Portfolio: ASF Chairperson ANSOC: Polytechnic of Namibia What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? As ASF Chairperson, I would like to accomplish the following, which are not limited to; Coordination: With God’s help, mentorship and dependence, I would like to fruitfully cooperate and co-ordinate my fellow REC in our effort to serve the needs of students and community , proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and of developing mature Christian leaders for leadership in church and community. Fulfillment of aims and objectives of ASF: Together with my fellow REC, and all other subcommittees (EoC, Finance, etc.), would like to strive towards fulfillment of ASF aims and objec- tives, to derive notable and tangible results of ASF aims and ob- jects fulfilled in one way or another during this term of office. Inspiration: By God’s wisdom and guidance, I would like to pave the way for ASF future leaders after us, to inspire them positively in leadership, in such a way to make someone else hungry to lead ASF Namibia. Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: Love: For the world to know that we, ASFers belong to Jesus Christ, we should love each other as according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Not doing this, the world itself will be puzzled of us. Let us All strive towards the goal: We shouldn’t say that we have already attained it, neither we are perfect, but to say that we are following after that goal, Philippians 3:12-14. Rome was not build in one day, let the battle go on. ASF have it all: I fully believe that ASF Namibia have all it needs to attain its aims and objectives for the following reason which are not limited to; firstly, ASF Namibia have Jesus Christ, secondly ASF is enriched with numerous professionals in vari- ous fields of study, thirdly ASF have a very helpful community and church. We are One: We are many members in One body, who is Christ, with different duties, Romans 12: 4-8. Name: Mr. Penetius P Mangudu Portfolio: ASF Vice-Chairperson ANSOC: Polytechnic of Namibia What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? My aimed accomplishment in my term office is Summed up by these three words: Unity, Love and Peace. My goals and work in this office should reflect on these three pillars and in our federa- tion. -Unity among all members and ANSOCs. -Open and direct relationship between all members and the REC, where their voices are heard and put to work. -Better and broad understanding of the Federation for all mem- bers. -Create external relationship with other youth groups. -More youth projects in ASF, for spiritual growth and social de- velopment. Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: Fellow ASFers this is our federation, we must love and embrace it. This is God’s gift to us. We must all work towards the success of this federation. We should stay true to our faith in Christ , be good disciples of Christ in our daily lives. Remember, a dormant ASF member is a dormant federation, so let us be active for our federation to be effective and have a positive impact on students and community at large may . God bless ASF Namibia. I love you all.
  • 7. 7 Name: Ms. Ndilimeke Haimbangu Portfolio: ASF General Secretary ANSOC: Polytechnic of Namibia What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? I want members to have a smooth communication channel with the REC for them to express their views on a certain issues or changes. For the Chairpersons to work hand in hand with their Secretaries in drawing up agendas and also during the conduc- tion of the meetings. I want to ensure openness with the members within ASF as whole e.g. ladies to be open to each other and also gentlemen to merge in the same activities and come forward to share what they would want to share. Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: To my fellow ASFers, I want to tell them that we should always remember the reason of them being in ASF in times of tempta- tions because temptations are what strengthen our faith. We should always put God first regardless the situation we may find ourselves for learning on our own understanding is always a bad choice, Psalm 118:8. To all Christians we should always be aware of our actions not to drink alcohol and forget what we could do/did which may lead to a difficult and naïve situation. We should always remember that God is our everything and we need him everyday and every time. Psalm 23. Name: Mr. Jonas Heita Portfolio: ASF Gender, Education, & Transformation Officer ANSOC: University of Namibia What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? Strive for Academic excellence, Social development and Spiri- tual growth within ASF Namibia Region Install hope into fellow ASF members thus, to acquire each and everyone’s interest into the Federation affairs. Expectations from us as members of this manner/characters within our members and consider possible ways to solve this. As it’s said that, knowledge is power! I will therefore aim much more on sharing of individual & personal life skills that each one of us posses and know to enrich our individual thinking ca- pacity, knowledge and skills, Friendship and a strong bond rela- tionship among members of ASF to grow. Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: Teamwork and dedication to our mission as ASFers and fellow Christian family at large will for sure lead us to a great achieve- ment of the goals we set. Wherever you find yourself , be bright and pray to God Al- mighty. Be of value to a body (ASF Namibia, a Christian Organization, a residence– house etc..) to be a Christian, you serve! However be sure to do it with love and willingness always. Leading does not mean we are the best or the perfect one but, rather humbleness scarifies and serve God through others. So, beloved members let us share our efforts, ability and time into matters of our Federation wherever & whenever possible. May peace & love of our Lord Jesus Christ be among us always. Name: Mr. Elias M Shilongo Portfolio: ASF Media & Projects Officer ANSOC: International University of Management
  • 8. 8 What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? I During my term in the office, I want to work in good advan- tage of this federation, making the federation known in the en- tire country and make sure the events to be held are well marked Since ASF is a students ministry, I would like to make it known by students in different higher institutions and colleges. I want to take the Choir to the NBC TV Mobilization Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: My massage to my fellow ASFers and all Christians is taken from Romans 12:9-18 Let us love each other with sincere and hate what is evil, respect each other and live by a prayer. Let us be careful to what is right in the eyes of everybody, and whenever possible as far as depends on us live at peace with everyone. Let us not pay evil with evil but let us be a good example and glorifying the LORD Almighty. Name: Ms. Aili N Hamunyela Portfolio: ASF General Treasurer ANSOC: Polytechnic of Namibia What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? I would like to make sure that all members who have settled their fees (membership & affiliation) Will have their membership cards and forms for the first time in this region. As ASF is a non-profit federation, I would like to get sponsorships to have our own transport. Last but not least I will make sure that the region is always financially stable. And lastly I will try by all means to help out students who really need help financially. Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: My massage to all ASFers is taken from the book of Saint Luke 11:24-26 ,When an evil spirit comes out of a man it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says , I will return to the house I left. When it arrives it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven others spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than that the first. Let us be serious with our lives and avoid backslid- ing as it is very dangerous. Pray always!!! What is the Mission of ASF Namibia in short? ASF have a long mission of bringing students together to ex- plore how to live out a radical faith in today's world regardless of age, ethnic origin, ability, sex, belief or political affiliation recognizing the value of our many differences. It thus follows that ASF is a Home Away From Home, for all Christian scholars, irrespective of their reli- gious origin or denominations, i.e. Not only for Anglicans, but for all believers, who have hunger and eagerness on knowing who Je- sus Christ, The Lord is and serve Him. Thank you. Name: Ms Tresia N Hamutenya Portfolio: ANSOC Chairperson ANSOC: University of Namibia What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? As a Chairperson, I want to achieve more of what I expected to do, conducting all the meetings and make sure all my BEC do what they are expected to do. I also want to make sure that whatever we planned during the year 2014/15 is done and lastly not to let my ANSOC down. Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: Serve the community by spreading the Gospel of Christ and helping them in whatever you can so that your Father in heaven can reward you. May the love rule in your hearts, Ephesians 4:26. I love you. Rev. Joseph Hanghome ASF-Namibia: Chaplain
  • 9. 9 Name: Ms Anna N Nakafingo Portfolio: ANSOC Chairperson Ansoc: Polytechnic of Namibia What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? Leadership is about doing something that matters; therefore by the will of God I will ask him to direct me through my journey in the office. Positive social change is purpose driven, commu- nity based, and intensely personal. The list of things that I would like to accomplish is countless but since I am just a vessel who wait on God for fulfillment I can not really tell what I would like to achieve at the end. We human plans and fail more especially when God is not involved in our plans. I would like by the end of our term to make sure that our Ansoc will be legally registered with the Polytechnic of Namibia, To build a relationship with few companies by them becoming our sponsors in any kind and for now we are looking at developing an internship program with. At the end of this term I would also want to be a well-trained leader– mature Christian, having knowledge—Proverbs 1:7 Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: These are bad/evil days we are living in and we need to be re- sponsible of how we live our lives. I would like to encourage us to stand firm as per 2 Thess 2:15 “Therefore brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by words or our epistle let us stick/ hold the unto the gospel of Christ and not of men, Be people of prayers, Mediate the word and study it day and night to know what is required from us. Trust and obey God may we all live according to what God has called as for ,for the cause of Christ and may the will of Christ Jesus our Lord be done in our lives. Its best to suffer for being a Christian than suffering for being someone else. Name: Mr. Taveuli G Ngube Portfolio: ANSOC Chairperson Ansoc: International University of Management. What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? Concurrent with the mission of ASFN, I will strive to contribute to society's intellectual, cultural, spiritual, and economic pro- gress and well-being to the maximum possible extent. My pri- mary objective is to support the success of students. Development of individual identity, organizational effective- ness, and positive social change are intimately intertwined. Experiential learning is at the core of the co-curriculum. In- volvement and leadership activities take many shapes and forms which honor the diversity of our society. Community matters – success is defined by a whole and diverse community. Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: It is embarrassing to belong to a faith that attracts a group of people who always have to be right, and when something pushes out just a bit, they want to shut it down or keep people away. We need to stand firm, and not surrender on what we are doing. We must not praise people but God himself the creator of Heaven and Earth. May God bless you all in your entire lives. Name: Mr. Nelson Ndakevondjo Portfolio: ANSOC Chairperson Ansoc: Paulinum Theological Seminary What do you want to achieve (Accomplish) during your term in the office? During my term in the office as branch Chairperson I am highly eager put this branch at the best standard in all angles, especial the spiritual level of the members, the financial standard
  • 10. 10 of the branch and enable the member to go and serve the people of God effectively. I also want to do my best to contribute to the growth of the whole Federation (regional level) and strengthen the federation that it can able to stretch out its hands to reach and assist the poor, orphans and all disadvantage people out there. I also would like to contribute to the growth of the federation in all means that it can able to reach all the corners of the country (All necessary institution). Your massage to your fellow ASFers and all Christians: My Massage to my fellow ASFers is that, in the first point we have called in one family and in deed a Holy family of God and this a Christian family. This can be served through different gathering or groups such as this federation we are today (ASF), Under this family we are not alone but with the Holy Spirit Which gathers, guide, strengthen and leads, therefore let us be courageous enough to serve God and also brings others into this family of God through this fed- eration since it's our duty. Let not only serve God while we are in this federation or doing our studies but for our entire life. Lastly I would like to remind you that you are the light of the world and city on a hill can not be hidden (Matt 5:14) so be bright in the corners were you are and be blessed always. ASF Activities: August-October 2014 Here comes the reflection of ASF activities for the time frame of August –October 2014. ASF Namibia General Assembly It was a fair Saturday, the 2nd of August at Bishop Courts (Namibia Anglican Diocese Bishop House), where ASF Namibia held its first general assembly for the year term 2014/15. The primary aims and objectives of this event was to evaluated and give a reflection of what happened in the previous term of lead- ership, to introduce the new elected leadership by then and to give the way forward for the faced term in the region. Two crucial matters had transpired; which were to launch the regional Plan of Action (PoA) or the term as well as the adop- tion of the yet-to-be launched regional Constitution of ASF Na- mibia, should it be approved by PEC. This event was attended by a sum of over 39 students, and they got opportunity to chat and share available refreshments. ANSOCs’ Cultural Festivals 2014 Polytechnic of Namibia & University of Namibia ANSOCs’ cultural Festivals 2014 As a custom, Polytechnic of Namibia Ansoc-PoN Ansoc as well as University of Namibia Ansoc-UNAM Ansoc since their in- ceptions has been partaking in a life exploring event, cultural festivals. These events usually organized by their respective in- stitutions, for societies, academic and non-academic societies on campuses to exhibit their cultural and traditional attires and food items. These events also serve as a platform for Ansoc to fundraise for their financial sustainability. Ansocs’ cultural festivals took place at their respective campus grounds as of 11th August and 21st -23rd August respectively.

It was one of this kind of event of its standard to be prepared in Namibia region since its inception, thus it attracted at a sum of over 190 attendants. Four eligible speakers where chosen to present presentations at the workshop, which were Pastor Laban Mwashekele, Mrs. La- paka Weyulu, Dr. Tshapaka Tsakapolo and Mr. Tadeus Kam- bau. The event was spiced up by the performance of ASF Drama team as well as ASF Choir and a supplementary gentle music. ASF Social Evening It was on 04th October at St. Michaels when ASF Namibia planned and held its social evening. The primary objects of this event was to create links with our Christian societies, to market ASF as well as to fundraise. Even though the turn out of invited groups was low, ASF Choir was not discouraged but to do what the event was intended to do, forward they went. ASF Choir was “in colors” as it was the first time to wear their brand new choir uniform. ASF End-of-year Function and All-night Prayer 2014 For the year long, the “ship” which has been sailing has been parked for a while on the 17th October 2014 at United Congre- gational Church in Khomasdal, Windhoek. This is to illustrate the closure of ASF Namibia activities for the year 2014. As it is reflecting in ASF Plan of Action (PoA), the end-of-year func- tion intends to officially put on-hold the activities of the PoA , yet the offices at various levels are still active and on duty, A number of guests were invited, and the present guests include Pastor Laban Mwashekele, Father Lukas K Katenda, Tate Jonas Neulumo, Tate & Meme Nekongo. Among the invited guests, some happen to be awarded due to their outstanding support towards ASF in anyway. • 12. 12 Today’s generation Our country is in confusion, people are worried and hopeless like there is no God. We are now like sheep’s without a shepherd, we are on our own. We all have failed, we neglected our responsibilities. A saying that says “the best inheritance that you can leave your kid is an example of how to live a full and meaningful life” Dan Zandra, is true. Most of the parents are not good examples to their chil- dren, their way of living are the reason why their kids are who they are today. If you have been a good example to your kid you should remember that kids only do what they see and not what they hear, actions speaks louder than words. A parent was supposed to be a teacher, not only in words but also in actions. What parents do we have in Namibia? Parents who fights in front of their children, sending them to go buy alcohol, parents who don’t even care when their children are going out late in the night and not even what their children are putting on (some parents are the one who buy them miniskirts). Do not be deceived, you will reap what your sow, Galatians 6:7. It is easy to dodge our responsibilities but we cannot dodge the consequences of dodging our responsibilities. The Lord has instructed us to train our children in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it, Prov- erbs 22:6. On the other hand, some of our parents are correcting, teaching and rebuking our bad behaviors but in response we insult them, we think they are behind forgetting that they were also youths they know the danger of what we are doing. Namibian youths are easily influenced, whatever is on the table they will eat, drink and so on. Drinking alcohol and using drugs. Let’s respect our values and know where we are from. We should also put in mind that this world is not our home but we are just passing by and we will be accountable for our lives before God the Day of Judgment. Remember: “You were born an original, don’t die a copy”, John Mason. ASF Namibia being there to serve the needs of students and the com- munities; we are fully supporting all the educational training institu- tions at all levels and encouraging students, learners and parents to be involved to emulate vision 2030.
